Default 5 point harness question

I did my searching, but was left with a few things unanswered.

1. What is the difference between the Y and individual shoulder straps?

2. How come hardly anyone has pics of what these harnesses look like? All I can find on vendor pages are tiny little pics where you can't see anything.

3. What is the difference between the latch and the cam lock?

thanks!

1. the difference between the y and individual is that they come together in the middle if you look at like say a kirkey drag seat theres only one opening in back thats for the y type harness it comes together in back for only one mounting point. where as the y type has 2 mounting points in back and is a little less comfortable on the shoulders and the difference between a latch and a camlock is that a latch style harness each end of the belt slips over the latch and they all latch together all of the ends basically slip over the left half of the lap belt and a cam lock they all lock into a circular latch device and when you turn the **** they all come out at once. hope this answered all your questions feel free to pm me with any more. -tony-

The "Y" harnesses are not legal for NHRA/IHRA racing.

The blue are not good:

These however are (as are the reds above):

The difference is the "Y" has (2) straps turning into 1 with only 3" of nylon to take the load in an accident whereas the "V" style still have (2) 3" nylon straps to take the load. The result is less stretch and less chance of failure in an accident.

.

It was outlawed a couple of years ago. Very very popular when I started.
Converted my old car to V style. Not a fan of the separate shoulder belts.
