Default Could Use the Opinion of Some Veterans

I posted in this forum because I am hoping to get some of the drag racing/LS1 veterans to chime in.

My friend has a 99 Z28, gutted, slicks, MS4, SS3800 stall, LT's, 4.10's, diablo tune, cage and harness. Oh and a LOT of spray. (currently 300 wet) He's went 10.3X so far with this little. He went to the track this past Friday and blew his stock rear to bits and almost kissed the wall. He thought it would be funny to send me a picture of the ambulance that was checking on him.

That brings me to why I'm posting. I'm trying to express to my friend how dangerous it is him running that fast with so little done. He has NO suspension modifications, STOCK rear, STOCK tranny, STOCK fuel pump, etc. Honestly I don't even think he's running a DS loop. He FINALLY (after getting kicked out several times) had a cage installed.

I understand him wanting to go fast, but I don't think he realizes the risk he's taking by pushing the stock parts beyond anything they were intended for. I'm just a concerned friend who doesn't want to see something bad happen because he cheaped-out on the proper gear/parts.

well he isnt that smart, he should really add the driveshaft loop , and several other things, unfortunately most people do things backwards and make it fast first then maybe get around to safety later, some never get there. I guess he will have aftermarket axles at least lol

Maybe you could point out to him, that's it's not just for his safety, but for the car next to him too. DS loop, axles, wheel studs and a few other things may be the reason he doesn't cross over and take the other car out with him.

A DS loop and ARP wheel studs are cheap insurance, atleast make him get the cheap insurance stuff, but some ppl like to learn the hardway

Maybe his chunking the rear will be wake-up call for him. Otherwise I'd see what footage you can find for racing wrecks/races gone wrong and show him what could happen when you try and skirt issues/parts when they should be upgraded.

Going fast is a big priority for most, but going fast SAFELY should be the biggest priority.
