After reviewing this site for weeks and many questions about heads cams and all of the sort, i have changed my mind once more...i am wanting to make at least a 10.99 cam only car. i dont know where to start, but the basics i see are big cam, low gears, m6(which i have), and tough clutches and most importantly a driver! i am curious as to what suspension setup to use and possibly even the best tire to do so. i have been kicking around this idea...

.236/.242 .602/.612 111 + 2 lsa(basically MS3)
sixspeeds inc. stage 4 tranny
all supporting bolt on's
*might consider fast 92/92 if it is going to help and not hinder me any*
Moser 9" spool with 4.30 gears and 33 spline axles
*i dont know of a clutch at all. i want something kinda street friendly when needed but can be stiff as hell at the track.*
*i am also curious as to if i should run the speed density or not, with just cam only...*

Please let me know what yall think...i am set on this build if i could just get kicked in the right direction..any suggestions or changes will definently help too! Thanks Everyone!

bacially what ever you don't mind taking out. like: carpet, a/c , heat, stereo, airbags. that kind of stuff

oh ok. waht about the performance side of it? how does my cam and drivetrain amtch up to the idea of a cam-only 10 second car??

Im sure you found threads were guys have done it.. Its not easy, but I am sure those guys are around 3,000lb race weight and its pretty much gutted.

You start getting into those bigger cams, be prepared to spin them things to 7K to make max HP. Down side is is that stock motors arent built to be spun that high so you take a change of motor failure.

If your serious about it, get the T-Rex and have it tuned then work on your suspension. Key is to get your 60' in the 1.3X's.

t-rex or ms4? i am fairly serious...i am just trying to fathom how a cam only car is running faster then h/c/i cars?? it is weird. my thinking is the money i save on a set of good heads i can apply to the drivetrain/suspension...unless there is a variable i am not noticing...thanks guys! please keep it coming!

Trex, don't mess around, and make sure the valvesprings are shimmed to within 050 of coil bund so you don't float anything.

you need every LW aftermarket suspension piece, delete the havac, and every other non essential part Youll need to drive that stick car like the man too if you want to go that fast with one. If you're not the one to drive the car that way, basicially trying to break/blow it up every run, get an auto, like a TH400 and one of those ATI 5500 converter's and leave off the transbrake, shift at 7000

the cam only cars you see running fast are purpose built race cars... many head and cam guys are street strip guys with AC blastin in there face as they drive their car home... big difference in a race car and a car that you drive to and from the drag strip...

Strip the hole car apart, throw away anything you know isn't nessacry to make it move. Good luck you have alot of work to do . Theres probaly about 100 variables you missed on why those cam only cars runs 10's. They are lean mean machines.

suspension and tires will also be critical. Getting the power to the ground and maximizing what you make are the keys to your goal.

they dont have to be race cars to go 10.99 cam only. mine is full interior plus a bar. 3400 pounds, but it is an auto which equals a big difference when you go this fast.

prolly go to 4.56's, 28 inch tire, pull out all seats except drivers, speakers, deck, ac, front sway bar, bumper supports, 12 inch extensions off exhaust, lightweight wheels, oh and some type of twin clutch and all suspension pieces, kmember, manual rack, and drag brakes.

and go trex over ms4 all day.
