TH350 trans guys need some help here
TH350 trans guys need some help here I have a cam only Z28 I just swapped over from 6 speed to 4000 stall th350 with 4.30 gears and 28" Hoosier QTP's. I was told by several different trans guys that this setup is good for 124mph@6400rpm with a 28" tire. I took it to the track last Friday and it would only make it to about the 1000ft mark and no farther. What are some of you guys with 350 trans running? I'm wondering if I have something wrong.
You must be blowing through the converter. In my cam and bolt ons camaro with 4.30's and 325/50/15s I could make it through the 1/4 at 6600rpm on motor. On nitrous its a differnt story, I couldnt make it through. I also have a nitrous 3200 stall contverter which is really tight on motor.
I don't know about those gears, kinda steep.
When I had the 408 I ran 4:10's N/A w/ 28" slicks and it was good. My converter is also around 4000 stall. I also ran the same set up with the 325 50 DR's which don't grow and it was fine with those as well.
How much power are you making?
Reason I ask is because the more power you make depending on the set up you may need less gear.

It's a N/A 346. It made 370rwhp but I've since added a 78mm LSX, ported TB, tuning, removed a/c and PS. So I'd think it's making around 400 give or take 10.
It acts weird in the top of 3rd at about 5500, almost like it's slipping but I don't think it is slipping. What does it feel like when you blow through a converter? I thought this couldn't happen unless you were using a power adder

with your hp the 4:30's shouldn't be a problem. Wouldn't usually think that hp would be blowing through a converter but from what you're saying it sounds like that's the case.
I'd call the vender of the converter and see what they say about it.
