Default In car camera guys.. where do you mount it?

Aside from the cage (don't have one yet) where do you mount your camera? I wanted to get a vid of my tach and maybe me shifting. I have a digi cam and thought about getting a tripod and straping it down but I don't think it will hold. Just want to hear what other have done. Thanks. -Mark

I saw a guy who put a tripod on the the center hump in the back using the seat belts to help strap it down. You may want to try something like that...

.

I've seen tripod in front seat, front floor, back hump. Guys have used straps, duct tape, tie wraps, seat belts ect.
Just don't expect rock steady unless you figure a good sturdy way to mount it.

Thanks guys. I'd but a kit off that website but when I race its a single seater. I guess I'll have to use a tripod and bungie cord it down somehow. lol. -Mark

I followed these instructions. I shortened the tubing and only attach it to the driver's headrest though. Drilled a hole through the end of the tube at approximately the middle of the car and used a wingnut screw through the bottom to attach the camcorder to the top.

if you solid mount the camera, be careful. Some models will black out from the g forces.

edit: here is an example of the last guy that tried this- https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=camera

I just bought a standard type tripod and put it behind the roll cage and used HD tiewraps to secure it to the cross bar. I got the idea from "Wildthing" here. It works and it's cheap.

Thanks TXCAMSS. If thats your car in your avatar and the camera was taping during that pass I think I'll go that route. Nice launch.
