Default carberated E85 drag car????

Can any of you guy shed some light on the ethanol game? Seems like some people are switching over to it and picking up power. I hear it takes more fuel than pump gas to run, is this true?

What are the pros and cons of it?

What is the octane rating? I heard 106.

Will it pick up power over 94 oct or even 110oct?

I am toying with buying a demon E85 carb and trying it? Or I could wait and run on race gas then switch to see the difference.

yeah from what i hear you need to push about double the amount of fuel through. everyone i know is using it with fuel injection. out here its equivelent to 105 octane. i know your running a cabr but running it with fuel injection reguires different pumps, regulator, bigger injectors and lines etc. i dont think it would pickup over 110 or 114 race gas though. i could be wrong though i dont know a lot about this stuff.

Me neither?

I talked to a guy with a 383 LT1 car and he switched over to E85 and picked up 40 to 50 rwhp and like 120 to 140 rwtq. He showed me a dyno graph on both. But I think this was going from premium, 93 octane.

yeah it probablly was. we currently have a gto in my club thats running a 7.2lsx with a etp heads, cam, becks sheet metal intake, 96lbs injectors, bigger pump lines and regulator. with no suspension mods and a on stock width rims with mickey thompson et streets shes running mid 11s on a cold day. e85 supposively runs cooler then race gas aswell. basically when i was looking into doing my motor i had the same questions and i talked to quite a few guys about this. basically for my 486BBC in my lt1 i would have to run 16 injectors, 2 sets of fuel rails, bigger lines, a little bigger fuel cell, big pump and regulator etc. an e85 setup seems pretty close to a methonal setup as far as a fuel system goes as far as injector amount how big your pump is etc.

E85 is a lot easier on parts, its not as corrosive as methanol. it takes roughly 32% more E85 than regular gas, it has a slower burn rate as well. i know a guy who runs it in his fox body, runs consistently 6.2x in the eighth. Thats with stock style suspension, and a small block, no power adder. -10 lines up to the regulator, and -8 up to the carb should work. you can also run up to 13:1 compression with E85

We have did alot of R/R ont he dyno with it makes alot more power then pump gas. Takes alot more fuel to make power with it tho about 30%
cons are you will need a huge fuel pump , bigger injectors,
Pro are its 3/gal here alot cheaper then race fuel

I will be running it through a E85 demon carb. So it is set up for the more consuming fuel rate. I suspect I will need a larger pump then the Holley HP125 that is on it now.

How would this work with n2o? Run bigger fuel jets to compensate for this kind of fuel or just run race gas in the dedicated cell?
