After I posted it I figured I'd get a little flack. 
Batt Relocation

Batt Relocation I'm thinking about relocating my battery to the rear spare tire area. I have done some research, but my question is why can't i just attach the wire from the positive side of the battery back to the original engine compartment lead?

You can. But in order to be legal you have cut the cable going from the disti box to the alternator and run a 1g wire from the alt to the positive side of a kill switch. That way when the switch is pulled, power is killed to the car AND the alternator. -Mark
or you could run the 4 post cut-off switch similar to the one pictured below. that will allow you to run the main cable directly to the battery cable up front like you said and then you just run a thin wire up to kill the ignition, that way it will shut off the ignition and prevent the alternator from keeping it running. plus you dont have to run 2 heavy gauge wires. money and weight.
