Default Lastest Drivetrain Setback! Twin Disc!

Well i just cant win. After the last time out with the slicks i took out a driveshaft, torque arm, 12 bolt and T56. All one shot. This happened Feb 02. Finally have all items replaced and beefed up. Only thing i didnt replace was the Mcleod Twin Disc. Bearly has any miles on it. Well thats the lastest failure.

Went to the track last sun with the tires. No impressive times or anything. Second and third pass was 5 min apart. I slipped out the clutch. I did this cause last time out dumping cause everything to break. Got out of the hole well, 2nd 3rd and went to forth and car fell on it face. Coasted back to the pits. Clutch smells bad. Real bad. Try to engage the clutch. Barely moves at all. I though i boiled the clutch fluid. So i let it cool down and still nothing. So i go back the next day to pick up the car and bring it back.

I was going to change the fluid to see if it was a air pocket or somehting. But while i was under the car it still smelled like a bad clutch. So i pulled the tranny.

Lets just say i can add a Mcleod Twin Disc to the Wall Of Fame!

Whats this sticking out the the pressure plate?

Its the clutch lining!

Clean the clutch right off the floater side on both disc. Ugly aint it.

Notice the clutch material next to the clutch. I dont beleive it is supposed to be like that.

Anyone have a clue how the hell this has happened?? Going to call Red on monday to see whats the next step for my car.

Don't rest your foot on the clutch pedal when you're just driving around and you won't burn the clutch up like that. :p

Hahahah...just joking. That looks pretty nasty.

one thing i can add from experience and listening to Les and George over at McLeod is that our clutches aren't meant to be slipped, they are meant to be dropped and with enuff rpm to turn the tires over at the line. mine has withstood over 700+ rwhp out of hole dumping the clutch at just over 5k rpm.

i am sure they will take care of you! but man i have never seen anything like that as far as the material is concerned.

Wow that's something else. I thought these clutches would take anything. I do notice that's the older style twin disk. I wonder if the new one is better.
