Default Do I have enough exhaust?

My new head and cam combination is G5X() cam, and AS stage 2.5 (large valve stg 2s) 5.3l heads, milled to ~11.5 to 1 compression. My exhaust currently consists of Hooker LTs, Hooker ORP, and Hooker catback. I will be installing a 3" cutout in the intermediate pipe. My question is this, do I have enough exhaust, or would I greatly benefit with true duals? I have the BMR Extreme torque arm (with the crossmember that makes true duals almost impossible), and true duals would be a major hassle at this point, not worth a 3-5hp gain, IMO. Or would I gain signifigantly in going to a 3" x-pipe dual setup? TIA, Shawn

I think what you have it fine. But I would look at installing dual 3 inch cutouts in the YPipe if you have the room If not the single 3 inch cutout will work well too

Cheers,
Chris

What about this that Nineball replied to an earlier thread I had posted:

Don't do dual cutouts for a 346ci setup. On my old heads/cam setup I tried that (dual 2.5" cutouts where cats normally would be on an offroad Y-pipe) and I lost a TON of torque. Only gained about 2 rwhp peak vs a single 3" midpipe cutout. Ran slower at the track too

Needless to say, that setup was ditched after a week. Went back to the single setup and got my ET/MPH back.

One of the biggest LS1 mistakes I've made to date

Tony

I really don't want to cut up my Jet Hot coated y-pipe unless I'm really sure its gonna work or help me.

My vote is a true dual setup with X-Pipe--more torque and power across the board--just my 2 cents.

btw, I have true duals and would not change.

Clearly at least 3" true duals with an "X"!

I like a 3" Y into a 4" Y-collector into a 3.5" I-pipe and 3.5" electric cuttout.
