Seems like your car is the exception not the rule, I have an LS7 based 427 w/ TFS 235s with a similar cam to your old car. I tried to duplicate your setup. My first and only dyno w/ break in oil and in 95-100 degree heat was 534 / 492 SAE. Even w/ the big cam it peaks around 6200. Seems like my car has always peaked around 6200.

I added a 4" catback that seems to have helped. My best trap w/ 3600-3650 race weight was 132.76 (6 spd, 4.10s, lifting on shifts).

I was hoping to match your dyno numbers and trap 135-136 but it hasn't happened. I'm thinking of adding a 100 mm MAF and an electric water pump.
I was fighting some issues with my car. One of the biggest ones was the clutch. It was put in with the motor and needed a good beating to fully engage. I made 555/505 before I ditched the 85mm MAF, but the clutch was still slipping I think. I took it to the track that way and ran the 10.2@136. The next time on the dyno was after that with the COSIII tune and no MAF. That is when I laid down the 570's numbers. I never got it to the track after I laid down the big numbers.

Now it took me about three months and a couple different cams to get to those numbers. I think I swapped clutches in there too. Plus I went OCD when I assembled the motor. Vengeance max ported me a 92. I spent hours porting my TB. I degreed my cam to perfection. I set up the compression so I had 8.5 DCR (which was a little low) but it worked. All the valvetrane geometry was perfect. Plus I had months of street tuning and some dyno tuning into it. The only parts I was missing was an EWP and some Cut outs. I think the Vararam was hurting my dyno numbers but it is the heat at the track.

The car weighed 3,360 the day I raced it. But the car is self was totally stock except the motor and clutch. So it was by no means a drag car. Stock suspension, gears, gearing and so on. I did have the ghetto drag pack with some busted wore out 8" ET streets.

Any way, to bring this back to the OP since I have totaly hijacked this thread, I think the car is making good preliminary numbers but I think there is more in there with some tweaks and some miles on the motor. That was my original point.

FYI- We just finished a C6 Z06 and ran a different Cam of 215/228 and made 540hp/528tq. Goes to show that small Cams can still make power. In the future we will go bigger to see the difference.
Well said. If the man gets his goals and is happy then who cares.

I am putting together another 418 right now with all the same parts as my last one with less compression and a smaller cam. The cam on this one will be an EPS 234/238 .602/.605 115+2. It will also have a Vengeance ported 90 instead of the 92. The goal is 530/500rw but I think I can get more out of it. So we will see what that set up does.

I also have a 12 bolt w/4.11's. One guy on here dynoed before and after his 10 bolt to 12 bolt and lost like 18hp. I don't count that hp loss because with out that 12 bolt,I would be walking. Nice build and power.
Engine doesn't not run very well cold, does great after warming up. There is some clutch feathering here and there, but overall, it drives well for the size cam.

Yes, 12 bolt was essential, lol.

I'm pretty happy with the numbers, would have been ecstatic with 575 rwhp, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. There are some things that I could have done to increase the hp a little here and there... like getting stepped headers, port matching the intake, lighter weight driveshaft, etc. etc... and getting on the dyno with a stock 10 bolt...j/k... It ultimately came down to cost benefit.

I'll get it dyno'd in a year or so after more break-in.

I had almost the same set up and went 10.80's with 17's on it. But with my 4:10's I had to shift into 5th.

I'm worried about that 4-5 shift. Math says I'll be turning 7,000 rpms at 130 with my current wheel/tire combo, so thats no good. Hoping I can just get a taller wheel/tire combo instead of losing the 4.10s. I'll probably only track it a couple times a year.

I ended up changing to a 3:90 gear and trapped around 132. Now the motor is in a lighter car with 27" QTP's on it.

Were you down there when the Green LT1 Camaro was? I think I remember you having computer problems.

Yeah, that was me. I got it all sorted out. My fuel pump hose had slipped off during the first trip to the dyno... mystery to why the computer wouldn't talk, but regardless, after getting that hose nice and snug again everything was good. Nice when a fix is free.

I remember the LT1, looked mean. How did things work out?
