Default Dyno Numbers with a Unlocked Converter?

Does a car dyno more or less with the converter unlocked. And what are the usual differences between locked and unlocked?

Locked gives more rwhp but it matters on a lot of things like how loose the converter is, a stock converter should be less than 5hp usually but a 4000 stall and higher could be over 40rwhp on heads/cam cars.

camz28arro is spot on...

I've seen an average of about 20-25 rwhp higher when locked. Mine dyno'd at 391 unlocked, didn't run it locked.

Auto's with stalls are not for someone looking for a dyno queen or bragging rights. On the flip side, it's not uncommon for an auto to clean a manuals clock with more HP at the track!

Well Dynod the T/A on SAT. did good for a stock motor 130K mile LS1.
Converter unlocked--303RWHP--306RWTQ
Converter Locked ---344RWHP---350RWTQ
all on a DYNO JET

I was pleased. Cam is soon, then we will seen what happens

Mine unlocked was 750rwhp then it put 845rwhp locked up.
