Default Dyno Numbers??

I bought a 98 ss with 60k miles on it back in December from a one owner. I was told it had 353hp to the ground. Here are the mods,

-slp full lenghts
-slp y (cat delete)
-slp lid
-slp elbow
-slp underdrive pulley
-k&n
-flowmaster kit
-air/egr delete
-comp gold rockers
-free mods
-4:10's
-tuned
-80mm TB

I think thats it, does 353rwhp seem like a stretch? I'm having it dynoed friday morning and then friday night Im taking it to the track.

I have been wondering if I'll be disappointed with the numbers so I figured someone on here may have an idea.

Ok, slight disappiontment. Took it in to dyno it today, second pull: 335/340. Previous owner must have been cross eyed. It dove at about 5k rpms so I guess I'll go ahead and get a cam and intake. It might have turned out a little better had it not been an 80 mile drive to the shop with zero cool down time. The guy was ready to leave so it was hooked up and ran at running temp.

Yeah, the numbers look good to me. An LS6 intake will give you a nice bump in power for the price.

You got pretty good numbers there what are you upset about? Did he say what type of dyno it was, maybe he dynoed on a dynojet and you on a mustang so it came up lower. And you basically just have headers back exhaust.. so 330rwhp-350rwhp is in the correct range. With a dyno tune and ls6 intake you will hit 350-360ish.

Ok, its been a while since the car was down. I did a head and cam swap along with a bbk intake and tune. I finally took it to the track last night. I ran 4 times and my best was 13.1 @ 112.

Aside from not hooking up with sumotomo rears my clutch seemed to sick everytime I tried to hit 4th. Anyone know what might by causing this? I know the clutch is fine and it has less than 10k miles on it. It stuck every run when from 3rd to 4th. I would pull it out then push it in again to get forth after that it would pull hard the rest of the way.

Slave master cylinder or you may need to do the drill mod as I heard some of these cars have problems hiting gears when running them hard. Search about the drill mod on here and see if that is sounding like that could be you problem. Also what heads and cam did you get and how much power does it have now?

Ok, finally got the car dynoed. With an 1.5 hour drive to the shop and only enough cool down time to strap the car down it ran 396/355. I'm taking it to the track friday to see if I can break in to the 12's.

I tried the drill mod but it didn't seem to help much.

Thhose numbers seem low for that combo, unless its on a stingy dyno. Can you post the graph?

I dont have a way to download the graph right now.

I think the dyno was off because there was a built newer saleen that only put down 411hp. The owner of the saleen had put down 407 on the same dyno 3 months prior before installing full exhaust, TB, and a smaller pulley.

I ran 12.6 @ 114 last night at the track.

Your times are what I was running with a mail order tune, also gotta remember it's a big difference with street tires vs drag radials. If you cut a 12.6 at 114 on street tires you should easily be a low 12, high 11 if a good lunch car with drag radials. Weather and dyno matter alot when putting down numbers. Realistically every dyno is different and they vary 10-30hp sometimes depending on type of dyno and conditions, it's stupid to see what a car makes by a dyno but track is best way to tell.

You also said you had it dynoed, does this mean dyno tuned or just dynoed? I put down 385/350 untunned on the dyno, still awaiting dynotune for next week to see what everything will do then but yea.

you may want to take the rockers off and put the stock ones on that will bump your number up a little thunder racing just did some dyno testing and the stock rockers are better I know its hard to believe but they are alot lighter then any aftermarket rockers
