Question Disappointed with numbers!

Well I just installed a TSP Tsunami with the PRC springs and ported pump into my 00 SS and netted 402hp/384tq. I was really hoping for the 420-430 range but didn't really get anywhere near it! Any idea's where i might be gettin robbed power?

Here's a mod list:

00 SS 147k Miles
9 Inch rear
Built T56
TSP Tsunami, Springs, Pump
LS6 Intake
SLP Lid
Pacesetter LT's
ORY, cutout
Magnaflow catback
34lb injectors
TR6 Plugs
Walbro 255 Pump

I think that 9" is what is setting you back a little. Those are heavy rear ends, but it should run pretty well at the track! Let us know how it does at the track, that should show the real power of the car.

Yeah, numbers are low but you have a heavy drivetrain. Tell us what you run at the track and you'll see if its really down on power..

400 are about right for a 9 Inch rear.

I was expecting that you were going to say 375rwhp (that would be low). 402 through a power-sapping rear end is pretty much where it should be. Bet it will ET nicely with those gears.

I went from 436 to 410 after I swapped out my 10 bolt for a Dana 60. It's all in the rear end, but a high gear will more than make up for it at the track. I might have lost 26 to the wheel, but gained 2 tenths going from 3.73's to 4.10's.

I lost 27 rwhp going from a 3.42 10 bolt and 17's to 9" 4.30 gears and 28" tall tires and bogart wheels.

those are nice #'s seeing that you have rear end like that... 20hp doest mean nothing, get a good take and you be able to take down cars with 20-30 hp.... i do it all the time. i did 405/394 and i have never been beat by a ms3 or ms4 that did 420's-430's post a vid at the track!

I am thinking he should be trapping 114-116 unless the car is really heavy. My A4 went 113 with 381 rwhp, and ran 12.42 with a 2.2 60'

True story. We recently had the LA Invasion at California Raceway. So I wanted to do some fine tune the car on the local chasis dyno. In the meantime I had replaced my Yank SS3600 with a Yank PT4000 torque converter. So on the chasis dyno I lost 10RWHP from the previous time on the dyno from 380rwhp to 370rwhp. Actually everything looked good on the tune so we left it as is.

On to the track. Well the air was terrible this time out with the density altitude between 3200-3500ft as the day wore on. Most people were down 2-3 tenths and 2-3 mph from the last years event. My mph went up from 111 to 113 and my et went down a tad from 12.12 to 12.09. So with less horsepower I went faster at the track.

Im not quite sure on the DA guys.. I will find that out asap n let u know.. ya I thought I should have been pulling at least a 112-114 range but count get anything better than 109.. also it was the first time at the strip so who knows next time it might be better.. I'm hoping for a mid to low 12 second pass with a good tire n good launch!
