u guys got me scared now, i had to switch over to a steel v6 driveshaft cause i was in a serious pinch one time when my stocker took a ****, and at high speeds now, i def get a vibration. the only thing i like about the v6er is its not as wide as the aluminum one, so i dont have and clearence issues. Think ill pony up the dough while im out here and gets me a REAL DS, cause im hittin the track when i get home with the new cam and duals and dont want to blow her up.

I have a stock steel V6 driveshaft too, and haven't had an issue.

so ya...stock motor mounts and a poly trans mount is a boatload of fail. i broke my tailshaft housing at about 140mph on the street. i had a stock 4l60 and stock driveshaft, etc. i think the soft motor mounts let the engine twist, but the stiff poly mount does not let the trans twist. by default, this finds the weakest link between the 2, which is the tailshaft housing. i guess the 200 1.6x 60' launches i had took its toll. it was all still on the car, kind of hanging out haha. i switched to a stock mount and had no more trouble.

Man that sucks Well just an update... I also broke my block have no idea how it happened but it broke right where the starter bolts up to. Mechanic said they were going to be able to weld the block and it should hold. They had to pull the block out and take off the head also. While the block is out decided to stick a 228r cam in there from tsp. I figured might as well right? I also got a spohn 3.5 chromoly ds on its way for the car. Ordered the poly mm hoping this will help too. I am hoping this expensive little dyno accident will not happen again once its fixed.

be sure to check your driveline angles and good luck, sorry to hear of your misfortune

my buddy broke another stock fbody shaft last week...on the street...on a 1-2 shift on street tires

stock shafts are junk, I'm suprised more threads like this don't exist

How would I check my driveline angle? I am newb to this but sounds like its something I should really look at. I have no idea how to check it or what it should be

get a magnetic angle finder from sears, put it on the tailhousing of the trans (flush against the seal where the shaft goes and record the number (should be 0 to +3 idealy), then do the same against the rear end yoke (should be -3 to zero), then install the driveshaft and measure it towards an end and record the degree

http://tekatlarge.com/Automobiles/Dr...Driveline.html

That website will explain how you want these angles to cancel each other out
