Guys picking up w. muffler right off headers?
Guys picking up w. muffler right off headers? I plan on running about 10-12 inches of pipe then a muffler dumped off each header, are guys picking up or losing HP once they go with this type of setup, my car is a H/C/I setup and im going from the TSP true duals , which i felt flowed very well. Only reason im doin this , is to get clearance for a shorter style torque arm with the cross brace, and the TD's wont clear the crossbrace....Let me know
It will not lose any top end,but bottom end (under 3,000) might.Im running bullets off of half of a y pipe,and it screams.It is a drag only car now for the past 2 years or so,thats why i dumped all the xtra weight.

My race car had Hooker 1.75" LTs with turndowns. No pipes, nothing. Ran just fine. Videos on youtube - search "Hammond Tire" and find the races.
While they may not be "optimal" (they won't take much advantage of scavenging), the lost weight versus an X-pipe and/or full exhaust is well worth it. What do we usually say - 1hp=10lbs. If you lose 5hp, that's worth losing 50lbs.
Plus, a loss of hp only hurts acceleration. A loss of weight helps accel, stopping, AND turning. I'd rather lose 100lbs than gain 20hp ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
