1st Dyno results question/problem?

Default 1st Dyno results question/problem?

I have a 1998 Trans Am M6 with 54,332 miles on it. Everything is bone stock except for SLP Loudmouth exhaust.

My best dyno was 299.9/313.7 The A/F ratio was ranging on the 3 pulls between 11.5 and 12. They said that's too rich and they could adjust it with a tune and add about 10-15 hp (for 400 bucks though) . Someone else mentioned that I might be able to fix it by cleaning the MAF. Anyone have any ideas? I'm putting a Whisper Lid put on next week and would like to have it dynoed again if I fix the A/F ratio as well.

How do these numbers sound for a 98?

Aragon that's about wright for a/f mixture my 99 t/a is 11.5 those cars are richfrom the factory.also i have slp longtube headers w/o the cats an airbox lid a ls6cam and intake and i dynoed only 311 from a 303i was told to get the ecm retuned and that would help it.

Do you think cleaning out the MAF will do anything then?

I don't think cleaning the MAF will do anything...I just had my 98 T/A Dynoed Tuesday..Automatic, mac headers, 3.42 gears, Cut Out and a very loose ST 3500 Yank Converter..baseline Dyno was 286rwhp..11.3 AFR..End result was 301rwhp..13.3 AFR..So I picked up 15hp, And it did cost $500.00..But he set the shift points, Turned the fans on Sooner, Deleted Torque management & a couple other things..It's expensive..If I pick up a couple of tenths I will be happy

I dont think that 11.5:1 is a normal A/F ratio for a car with just a catback exhaust. The rest of the people in this thread are rich because of the LT headers they have installed on their cars. That said 11.5:1 is not anything to worry about except for the fact that you are leaving a little bit of power on the table. To be honest those are very good numbers, my trans am made 305/318 a long time ago with just a lid and Loudmouth. If your car was leaned out to 12.8:1 you would probably make 310/325 .

So in short nothing to worry about really.

They do come rich from the factory on purpose to prevent knocking - detonation. That is why it's so easy to bolt on a MAF or ends & pick up 15-20hp. They lean it out. Before I paid them $500 to tune your car, I go buy a Predator for $400 from Runnin With The Devil or Thunder Racing & load in it's performance tune that will lean your car a little & add 7 deg of timing. Your car will run better & you'll have the tool. Just my opinion....

in truth your dyno is about right for your mods...
after the lid you will pick 10 hp.
dont bother with tuning will you put in some big mods..
cam headers heads ect ect ect...

when you get a tune get ls1 edit tune...
