Scaling is off between the two pulls. Neither one of them have HP/TQ crossing at the same RPM let alone 5250rpm where they should. Would be nice to see once that is fixed.

I used to hate working on my old LT1, but I still think a cammed LT1 sounds better.

Nice comparison. The ol' LT1 had some grunt down low.

Back when I owned my LT1's in the later 90's I thought they sounded better but as soon as I cam'd my LS1 w/ a LM1 CB that all changed...as for the "grunt" the LS was still faster just much smoother....

Nice comparison, it would be cool to see if the LS1 would get above the LT across the board if it had similar mods.

I think (hope) the LS would be equal or above down low if it also had LT's, and a UDP (not to mention higher ratio rockers).

comparing a M6 dynosheet vs A4 isn't a fair comparison. Auto will always dyno lower then a manual transmission.

It was a locked converter so it shouldn't be too far off

through a locked converter will make it alil better comparison maybe, but a the auto will always soak up more hp on a dyno doesn't matter what converter is in it. doesn't mean that the M6 will be faster tho.

I wonder what a gen3+ engine would sound like with original SBC firing order and if it would make the same power.

It would sound like a Gen I and II SBC. Power difference would be unnoticeable, but longevity would be reduced marginally.

A4 will always dyno aprox 15 rwhp less. positive A4's are always applying power to the wheel.

By positive A4, do you mean a locked converter?

Yes I know it was just a fun comparison and figuring the numbers out adding the loss in from the auto ( 20 percent) and subtracting the loss from a manual ( 12 percent) you get 304 /308 . The LT1 use to destroy that 98 LS1 my buddy had but would hang with my 01. They both ran 12.9 to 13.1 consistently. The low end grunt out of the LT1 is the only thing that saved it, haha

There is additional power/efficiency to be made with the LS1 firing order. Some cam company's even offer cam profiles for older SBC's with the firing order of an LS engine due to improved efficiency. I can't remember the differences, but I do remember reading about it 10 years ago or so. 7-10 hp comes to mind.

BTW, nice burb, I have an NBS Tahoe same color as yours with a 3/5 drop and a 97 Z28 lol...

Agreed, but that 7-10 was on vehicles well over 700 hp. At 300hp the power difference is there, but well within the margin of error. Longevity is effected however, but that is something that takes time to notice. An LSx will out last a Gen 1 or 2 SBC in any condition. It has to do with main bearing loading. Which is why it runs smoother.

Thanks man, I repainted the Burb black. I don't like it now. Going back to gray in a year or so.
