Wanted to replace the 4.8 since I've always wanted to mess with LS motors, and they drop right into my truck. I rebuilt a 5.7 short block from a camaro, used some 243 heads, and an FTI cam/spring kit. The goal was to only replace the long block, get it tuned and let the fun fund recover. Redline Motorsports did a great job on the tune. It drives just like the 4.8 did. Stock, but with more mustard. I realize this isn't very exciting compared to a lot of the stuff in here, but its just my beater truck that I use to haul my boards and fishing gear.
Is this about what you would expect from this combo, on a load bearing dyno(Land&Sea)? Keep in mind, everything on the truck is stock, except for the long block. Hopefully it will respond well to a better intake/tb and headers/exhaust. Not sure if I will change the converter yet.
Good looking truck man, especially for a beater! It is still the truck intake manifold? Depending on the specs of the cam, the stock manifolds are probably really holding it back.

Yea, everything besides the 5.7 long block is from the 4.8. Cam was ground for a street truck. 215/223 609/592 112
The truck intake will be fine for now. Headers, a good y, and a free flowing 3 inch magnaflow or dual 2.5 exhaust will help greatly. A 3200 stall be nice as a posi and 3.73s. An upgrade then to a tbss/nnbs intake would also help. Just to give you some ideas to get to like 365rwhp but youre on track. Good luck with your project.
