5.3 with 04 LS6 cam
5.3 with 04 LS6 cam I have read several posts, but never found one that told exactly how much power was made, so here are my results. Did a 5.3 swap in an elcamino for a customer. Stock 5.3 from a 08 truck, all aluminum DOD engine (dod deleted). Off the shelf stock GM LS6 cam (the bigger one). Stock ls6 heads with basic valve job. Stock ls1 intake, injectors, and TB from a 99 trans am. LT hooker headers. Car runs on megasquirt. Started out with a stock z06 timing table, and then modified it on the dyno. Final result was 306rwhp and 325tq. Tq peaked around 4300rpm, HP peaked at about 5200, never fell off but didnt seem to increase either. Some of that might have been in the tune. After 5200 the A/F went into the 11.5 range. I corrected that but didnt make another pull to see if it changed. I was overall happy with the results. The customer wanted a stock sounding cam. This car retains the factory cruise, and A/C.
