macs are decent but longtubes like the paceseters will net you more horsepower. for $500 you can find a decent set of longtubes new and used.

never heard of long tube macs. just mid lengths. i think you would be better off with pacesetters or hookers.

speed inc will price match any sale.
i got my pacesetters and ory pipe from them for 487.
mac are good headers. they flow within a few h.p of longtubes and you wont have any clearance problems.

Bought mine used for 250 and man are they great no ground clearance problems.Easy to install didnt need alot of room underneath the car. The only bad thing is if you need to change your rear sparkplug on the passenger side you cant get pass the collector very easy.

STOP RIGHT THERE AND READ THIS BEFORE YOU THINK ANOTHER SECOND ABOUT BUYING MAC HEADERS!!!

I was in you same place last year and I went with the MACs. I wish I did more research and bought REAL Long tubes and not the Mac mid-length.

MAC headers do not fit most (if not all) 2000 year LS1s. The airtube and egr don't fit. If you call Mac about this you will talk to their service guy, who is a "say any type of BS guy to get you off the phone". You will have to buy a new EGR tubes or and airtubes (about $200 new).

Long tubes will compliment future mods better than the mid-length. Yes, Mac are mid-length.....

ON THE PLUS, Mac are pretty easy to put in because they are smaller than the LTs
If you are not going to do many mods and you just want to gain a bit of HP by freeing the exhaust the mids are an option
They are somewhat less expensive (except if you have to buy airtubes and and egr tube to get them to fit)

Im not the original owner of the car. But take a look at my sig. Simple bolt on's and the AFR was wrong when I had it Dyno'd. I even have a Moroso(Sprial) bullet in there too. If I had to put them on again I would. Later John
