Gears also make a huge differance in mpg. I have a 224/224 with 114 lsa and 342 gears and yes it went down. But at the same time it leaves a huge smile on my face when I nail it.
Up's & Down's on performance.

You either have a heavy foot or are in bad need of a tuneup.

Mine seemed to get worse after my swap too.

actually blake, my car is tuned, noone on here can figure why the car is eating as much gas as it is, ive efi lived it and besides damn KR and positive ltrims at crusing and WOT, nothing sticks out or so ive heard, i get most of the KR at like under 20% TPS and under 2krpm or so, its odd? also get it at 3500rpm and higher. Either way something is screwed, new plugs, wires, 5k old front o2s. im fed up.

anyway update:

did 270 this week on a tank.
guess i gotta keep off it to get any mileage.............

Interesting... I just realized you're in Colorado.. do u guys get 93 Octane there or just 91 ? I remember, visiting my sis in Denver.. I only saw 85/87/91 Octane, if I recall correctly..

Anyways, if I got 270 to a fill [city driving], I'd be stoked!!

Update: Mileage is worse when:

1 - Car's idling [doh!]
2 - Stop and Go and short distances...

Mileage picked up when:

I get on it somewhat hard.. I guess that locks up the convertor rather quickly, resulting in better mileage... ?

My TC lock-up is raised to 50mph [instead of 40] to resolve "Cam Surge" ... Plus, speed limit being usually 40-50 mph in the city, most of my driving is in *un-lock* mode.. probably killing my MPG too

I'm also having the LTrims looked into..

Still no highway numbers..

yeah,
only cheap *** 91 octane here.

when i got 350+ on a tank, it
was no racing, just daily commuting which
consistated of a 10 mile highway ride and 10 mile burb drive.

I always shift at under 3k...................
and i use 6th anytime over 50mph
(remember i have 373's so i can pull 6th at 50mph @1100rpm)

I would say my avg befor cam was wel over 320 though.
hit that prety much every tank.

Now my goal is 300 with my big ol cam.
I hit 275 last time. If i stay off it,
I can do it......

I get about 210-220 rite now with TC untuned. I am afraid it will dip even further down once i get the cam in. I remember the good ol' days when I used to get 260-280.

I get about 1 to 1.5 mpg less with a 221/223 112 lsa cam and a 2800 stall. The gas light goes on at about 250 to 260 instead of 275 mpt (75% freeway driving on an auto).

Hey, you can do what I do and drive a Saturn for commuting (30 mpg) and save the miles on the car you care about.

With all of my mods done, I get about 240-250 miles to a tank.

My Monaro gets 24mpg bolt-on with 3.73 gears freeway cruising and 16mpg city driving. Fuel is getting expensive here at USD$3.40/gallon. Thinking of putting back in the 3.46 gears...

I got a best of 28 mpg on the highway with the cam. Usually it's 26 or 27 on the highway though. That's only ~1mpg less than the stock cam.

WOW! Wonder why it's so bad? I still do pretty good in my car with H/C. I get about 250-275 in the city and even better on the e-way.

Around 220 miles city and 340 highway. Headed to Canton over the weekend and pulled 25mpg. The highest i've pulled since the H/C swap was 29MPG all interstate and level country.

hmm, last time i remember driving my car i was filling her up right around the 130-140 range.

im sure the oil getting past the rings didnt help the gas mileage. and basically all i do is take the car out when its nice and DRIVE it.

I got 338 miles to 3/4 of a tank between CT and VA. 6th gear at 75mph(1900rpm) the whole way.

But around town, I get less than 300 to a tank. I guess if I shifted before 3000rpm in every gear, it might be a little different LOL.

6th gear at 1600-2k with 3.42s when im on the hwy.
