Disappointing results
Bought the A4 2002 z28 six months ago with only 7300 miles. It was completely stock.
I added a Magnaflow cat-back, SLP air lid, smooth bellows & air filter. There is now < 13,000 miles on the car.
Yesterday a local shop added a torque converter, shift kit and trans cooler. Then it was tuned and dyno tested. The results were 303 hp

. I lost 10rwhp going from an SLP SS exhaust to the Magnaflow. Gained 2rwhp from the lid. 0 from the K&N. I dyno'd on the same dyno before and after every mod.

the $150 pcm reprogram isnt really a full tune but as they said dont worry so much bout the numbers. Just take it to the track and get some slips and tell us what ya get! i bet 12s as well w/ some DRs and a good launch
also just to put it in perspective my 98TA A4 w/ full bolt-ons except for ls6intake did 326rw locked so 303rw w/ a few mods aint bad at all

Ok ready? Previously dynoed without the trans work.. 344.5 rwhp and 357 rwtq
with the trans work? 309 rwhp

Make sure they LOCK your converter on the dyno to see the optimum numbers so you can see if your mod's are dead on or not.
I lost close to 30 rwhp due to my converter not being locked on the dyno.
I also had a 150 shot wet go through and posted up 473RWHP unlocked converter.
SO dont frett, you have an unlocked converter, hence the small numbers.
By the way.. 12.3 I run with a **** short time of 1.70 on et streets with the 309 horse..
not to bad right?
I better 60 foot her.. 12.1's all day long.

aftermarket converters eat up Hp on dyno's unlocked, but it will be faster at the track with a sticky tire

To summarize....dyno numbers don't mean ****.
Dyno numbers are JUST bragging rights. Thats all.
And I had my converter locked on the dyno tune and then we switched over to a yank ss3600 and unlocked and I dynoed significantly less.
But I ran MUCH better..
Before the cam, I pulled 318 unlocked with stock converter and run a 13.80 et (Thats good for our 10 million mile high track). Put the converter in and then dynoed 306 unlocked and ran a 13.30 at the same track.
Puling 472 unlocked with the 100 shot. Can not wait to see what this does!!!
