Maybe a 383 would be better than a 393?

Oh, ****, the nay-sayer's union is at it again! 450-480 rwhp with great torque. You'll like it, have fun.

I won't be back here with all the "it can't be done" crowd. They deserve themselves.

Nobody said it cant be done, becuase it can, we just stated that he wouldnt make the power that he was shooting for, becuase the heads wont flow the numbers he said they would.

Then how much more would it cost to build an alum. 427. I am going to spend around 2700 on my bottom end. 2150 for the rotating assy. and 550 on machine shop labor

for 2700 you can hardly get a forged 347 using a stock crank, what parts did you plan on using?

I agree again.
Dont go cheep on the bottom as if it goes you are rishing a lot of parts being hurt.

I am going to use the eagle rot. assy. It consist of a 4340 4.100 stroke crank, 4340 esp hbeam rods and forged je pistons. Thats not a cheap assy. Its will cost me 2100 for the assy.

well with the resleaving the stock replacement piston wont work. will have to go to a 4.10-4.125 piston.

most shops charge 2400 dollars + exchange + shipping etc for the block.

again nothing wrong with your motor. just over square motors tend to not make the power that big bore motors do. you can still make great power with what you have. just the expectations shouldnt be 500 rwhp. that itty bitty intake valve on a stock bore isnt gonna get the required flow needed to make that power n.a.

So the 2.08 intake valve i have is to small??????????

And i would have more money in my block if i spent 2400 on it to get it resleeved than the rotating assy. i am going to buy?

You could even go with a 402 LS2 which comes with a 4.00 inch bore and is a lot cheaper than resleaving the LS1 block.

Your 2.08 valve is right. You just dont have the bore size to let it flow smoothly. Think about what is happening when your chamber/valve size is bigger than your bore. Essentially you are going to have some of your flow running into a dead end. Which doesnt just effect that air/fuel, it also gets turbulent and disrupts the flow path on that whole side of the valve. That is your problem.

Oversquare motors don't like to rev either. Eagle is a fine, cheap alternative to Callies or Manley as long as the package is balanced together, and you don't plan to use nitrous or boost.
