Default HP & TQ Diff. between 1 78" & 1 3/4" headers

I am thinking of swaping my TPIS headers and stock size mid pipe for a 1 7/8" Kook set-up with the 3" mid pipe. Has anyone done this and got any substantial gains?

The motor is in the sig. It makes around 485 rwhp and 468 rwtq. I am planning on going with a set of ET heads when I do this as well.

A big motor at that power level needs to breathe. I would expect you'll gain in the mid-range and above with the swap. Of course better heads should help power everywhere.

The previous owner of my vette added Kooks 1 7/8's when he put the the TEA ported AFR's and the 90/90 set up on. It picked up power everywhere...don't know how much the headers are reposnible for though, sorry

Generally thats true unless you don't have adequate backpressure then you're max torque will drop and possibly even max hp. LS1s like a little backpressure to run at their best.

I would think that on a stroker of that size you would definitely benefit from increasing the header primary's size. I wouldn't go anything bigger than a 1-3/4" on stock displacement but you have even gone bigger than the typical 383 stroker. I'm no expert but my guess is that you'll see most of your gains above the 4k rpm range.
