Very solid numbers. Think youd pick up any power with a similar cam on X-ER lobes? (.581 lift vs. .566)

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I'd see a small gain with a similar (224/224) XER lobe cam, but I don't think it would be significant enough to justify the work of a swap.

Yeah, itd be foolish to change the cam for just more lift. I was thinking if someone wanted to duplicate your combination.

You have a nice setup for a daily driver.

Default did not feel much....

Nice gain... I just did mine from stock 241 to 243 with same factory MLS gasket, but I decked the 243s .015 inch. and also did a valve job. 224/224 .581 112 lsa cam and the motor sees 7k rpm all the time. Did not really feel any gain from driving..... but may be be a 20-30 hp gain with a motor already has 390 plus will not be that noticable.

TR224 cam (112 lsa)
LS6 intake
Shaner S2 throttle body
Lid
ASP pulley
Jet-Hot LT's (w/ ORY)
SLP D/D catback (no cut-out)

With these mods, I put down 375/369 (rwhp/rwtq). I had also put down 376/376 on a previous dyno with the same mods. This was also using the stock injectors (26.6# I believe), which were at 98% duty cycle. These runs were made in 92.43 degree temps.

Last week, I added a set of untouched LS6 heads with the light weight valves, upgraded to SVO 30# injectors and used stock 6.0L MLS headgaskets. I went to tune my car a while ago and my new numbers are 411/401 (rwhp/rwtq)! These runs were made in 100.9 degree temps and my A/F was ~13. A gain of 35 hp and 25 lb/ft to the wheels. I was told that I would gain 20-25 rwhp, so I'm pretty happy with the results.

Keep in mind, my car had 853 heads on before, which aren't known to be the best flowing. I just wanted to post this for any guys who were curious to know the results of adding stock, untouched LS6 heads to their cammed LS1's. Any feedback is appreciated.

I'd post up the dyno sheet, but haven't scanned it yet. I didn't get a copy of the 411/401 run, but have one that reads 411/396. I'll post it up when I get a chance to scan it.

Nice gains..is it a stock 10 bolt car? I run stock ls6 heads on my T/A. .040 cometic head gasket, ls6 intake, full bolt-ons and it layed down 424/398 through a 9inch. How were your injectors maxed out? I run a similar set-up and a bigger cam(228/232) and my duty cycle is mid 60% range. Who knows??

Wow, this is an old thread.

Don't think I've ever heard that one before from a car guy, and will likely never hear it again, haha .

I thought the .040 Cometic was the most commonly used for good quench. I know AFR recommends the .040

i love to see these kinds of comparisons. I have stock ls6 heads also, actually it's a stock ls6 crate engine with bolt-ons. Good #s. There has been a many ported h/c cars not make that.

Yeah, wow, i'm gald someone brought this back. Just bought some 243's form another member to replace my 806's with my t-rex cam. I also need gaskets and bolts for that matter, but scared about PTV Clearance with my cam. Any suggestions. I'm not looking to go extensive, jsut need soem good sealing gaskets with a good amount of thickness. I'm gaining a good bit of compression and flow jsut off the swap. Someday they'll get P&P but for now going on as stock

I would have used .040 cometics to boost up the compression and bump up my torque numbers quite a bit. At any rate if you have a head gasket failure, you know what to use next time. Cometic .040

Those were some awesome gains man. I think you just sold me on a set. Where did you get your set of LS6 heads? Where can i just get a stock set of LS6 heads for a good price? I have been debating on whether to get some heads or N2O but now seeing this thread and also researching it i think i am sold on getting LS6 heads. I wasnt aware that the 853s flowed worse then the 241s.

I've seen a lot of cometics leak. I did not want to take the chance, so I stayed with stock GM gaskets.

When I swapped heads from stock to AFR's the cometics did leak. Then the gms' were put on and held but later failed. Cometics are on now and working great. No complaints.
