Default Couldn't get the tires to from burning the drums!!!

Does anyone have any tricks or whatever to keep the tires from smoking the dyno drums??

I'm trying to hit 150hp shot on the dyno and as soon as it hits, the car just roasts the tires and we can't get a good reading!

I heard of having a couple people sit in the back, but that seems kind of dangerous.

I'm guessing it is a small roller so the car should have 4 straps crossed in the back. 2 off the lower A-arms and 2 off the frame.Tighten them till it pulls the car straight down onto the roller. Also make sure the tires are on the forward part of the roller (going down hill towards the front).

Adding bodies is done a lot. Tighten straps, add bodies and if all fails, drop tire pressure a little. What kind of tires and what pressure are you running?

We run 4 in the back, 2 straight, 2 crossed, and one aross the whole thing pulling them all down. Seems to be the ticket. Dave at Nitrous outlet hooked me up with that tip!

No it was a mustang dyno where its lowered down into the drums! There are 2 rollers and the rear wheels were put between them.

However, I think the next time I get it dyno'd it'll be on a dyno jet and the rollers are like the ones your talking about.

I'll write this stuff down and try to get the shop to follow them!

They are nitto 555R's (street tire's) and I run them at about 33-35psi. It changes to when the tires warm up!

Is that on a dyno jet? And have you seen nitrous applications where the nitrous comes on hard and does it still manage to stick to the drums??

I have seen nitrous applications when dynoing(dynojet) and the tires did not smoke. I hope you can get a readout. Good Luck.

Dynojet 224xLC. Done a few 700 rwtq cars on the jug with no spin. When we don't strap them that way lesser power cars have spun though.

Interesting!

So there should be no reason a sudden introduction of 150 additional horse power will blow my tires away IF on the dyno the car is strapped down properly...........correct?

My stock 275's would smoke show every time on the mustang dyno with spray. But my Nitto Drags hold up just fine with a little prep work..

Many Mustang dynos, model MD-1750s, use large single 50" rollers as apposed to the dual roller Mustang model you described, much better traction. I'm assuming you have an auto, otherwise just use a higher gear for better traction.

That's too many PSI for 555R's, I run mine at 22psi every single day. I can dead hook 400rwhp in 1st w/ 4.11's on the street lol.
