Tq Issues On Dyno
I'm very pleased with my motor overall...I'm just questioning the amount of tq it produces....502/446 on a mustang 1750 with motor in sig.....I've noticed alot of other #'s in peoples sigs and #'s quoted on dynos and the tq seems alot higher than mine...I realize the key is the right combo...but most of these #'s are from smaller motors than mine, a few are the same...I also realize the cams are diff....but I figured I would have a little more tq than what I'm seeing....I know if I go to a Dyno Jet my #'s would increase..so either mne isn't making all the tq it can,,or it has the wrong combo,,or others are lying about their #'s or maybe they have the rigt combo........Just thought I could get some good feedback on this....

If those pulls were performed on our 1750, you would convert to approx 560/500 on the Dynojets around here. But yes, different combos provide different results, especially in the TQ graphs.

Like we discussed in PMs, the 114LSA +2 of that cam gives you an intake valve closing point of 54 degrees ADBC at .050". This is pretty late when using the FAST intake, even on a 408. To work best with the tuned runner length of your FAST intake and the 11.25:1 SCR, you'll need an earlier IVC. This will increase dynamic compression (which is fairly low right now) and boost torque. You can either advance the cam you have or get a narrower LSA cam that brings your DCR into the mid to high 8s.

Thanks for the imput Pat,, you always know your stuff when it comes to these things...I'll pm ya later and talk about my options...I just don't want a big project on a new motor,,especially since it was built right and pvc and cam was degreed properly...don't want to put another cam in if I can't do it right...meaning degreeing it with the motor not being pulled....
