Default Trak cam/AFR 205 dyno #'s inside

I finished another customers car,02"Ram Air stock 346ci,AFR 205s,Trak cam,Fast 90/90, pacesetters 1 3/4 full exhaust.We managed to pull off
422hp@6400 [email]385tq@4600. Afr locked at 12.8 thru 4800rpm then 13.2 till 6600rpm.Im not a professional tuner or anything but I can manage my own.I have one problem that doesnt go away, maybe some of the more experience tuners can chime in.I am having a lean condition occuring from 3600rpm till 3900rpm,goes up to 14.8 then I get a knock retard of -4 degrees AFR goes down to 11.00 then back up,finally AFR levels off to 13.2 at 4600rpm till redline.I have 26deg peak power and 23 degrees peak torque.I dont understand I lowered the timing, added more fuel, checked fuel pressure constant at 58-60,the most I seen drop was to 55psi.Anybody had this problem before?Overall the car runs great and smooth.

Check the PE multiplier delay. It should be 0. If there's any delay built in, that's your problem. Also, you'll want to look at your PE parameters overall. Make sure you have your PE coming on early enough and to activate at a low enough MAP reading.

I've gotten best peak torque at 12.5:1 A/F ratio and best peak power closer to 13.0:1. Sounds like your timing is low. I made more power with 28-30 degrees with the TRak cam and AFR 205s. What's the cc volume of the 205s? What head gasket thickness did you use? Power seems a little on the soft side...especially the torque.

Well my customer didnt want to get real detailed on it,but it was just a basic swap.Unmilled 205s,GM MLS gasket.I had recommended him cometic .040 and a .030"mill.He refused but oh well. The timing is low because thats when I was trying to fix the knock condition.Im going back to the dyno today, lucklily my friend own one here locally so we have unlimited runs.Hey Patrick ur invited down here anytime,Im in Laredo,Tx couple hours away.

All decay, delays and what-not need to be set to 0.

Deal with Decay rate & delays as Patrick mentioned then move on to add more timing on peak side but don't forget to keep us updated .

peace

Is your VE good at that point?
MAF takes over fully from 4000, under that you need your VE table sorted out to get accurate WOT fueling.

Not to hi-jack the thread but what kind of numbers you put down with your old setup?

My tune was very good, but the real difference between my dyno and your customer's are the extras that my car had:
28 degrees timing at peak torque
30 degrees timing peak hp
12.5:1 A/F ratio peak tq, 13.0:1 peak hp.
Heads milled .030
.040" Cometic head gasket
Pushrods in the middle of the hydraulic lifters
FAST 90 ported by Tony Mamo
No MAF
Electric Water Pump
Open headers

The nickels and dimes do add up. FWIW, the 472 number is with regular water pump, full belts, and closed exhaust with cats. Bypassing the cats with open headers made the biggest difference.

You need to save the file as a .hpt and open it in hp tuners !
