Default Gears VS RPM Graph Argument

For example 4.10 VS 4.30 gears.

I would think the power graph and peak hp would stay exactly the same, but it would take just a tad longer to run thru the gears with 4.10 gears..hence they are wider a tad..

Is this correct or will powerband somehow would some how change with the same exact setup (just different gears) as my buddy claims?!

Another question is would you lose few hp with 4.10 gears over 4.30 gears on a chassis dyno?

I don't see how the powerband could change due to gearing. The lower rear differential would multiply the torque to the ground in any given gear more, and thus accelerate the car a little bit harder... but that wouldn't affect the dyno #'s.

The higher the numerical gear, the lower your power/torque numbers are going to be. The powerband and curves don;t change however.

You would lose power going from 4.10 to 4.30 but not much. Now if you went from 2.73 to 4.30, your dyno would show the difference.

If the graph is in MPH, it will change.

When you go to a shorter gear the drivetrain accelerates faster. Therefore more power is deticated to the drivetrain and less to the wheels. You will show less hp on a chassis dyno, but will be faster on the street.
