how accurate can a computer program be?

how accurate can a computer program be? this may not be to advance for you all math whizzes but from you alls experience and use of desktop dyno 2000 is it at all accurate? If so is there any other accurate programs which ones are they and where can you purchase? Thanks!
I have used DynoSim ProTools for about three years. I have found it to be amazingly accurate compared to results run at a lab type facility like Westech Performance Group (runs most of the engine dyno tests for PRIMEDIA publications and the Engine Masters annual competition). Typically, my DynoSim results are a little more conservative and have about a 90% fidelity to the published results from Westech. You have to carefully set up all of the engine parameters like cylinder head flow versus lift, valve diameter, cam/valve event parameters, etc. to get good resultss. But if you learn the program and are careful in how you set up the parameters, you will get a good prediction.

The Desktop Dyno 2000 is a older program but still realively close. On the SBC's they are close to + or - 25 HP usually. On the BBC's they are about 50 HP shy of an actual engine build. It has been a few years ago but Chevy Hi Performance ran an article where they were testing the accuracy of the Desktop Dyno 2000 software. The above given claim's are from that article if my memory serves me correctly(The number's stuck in my mind over the years as I have used this program up until this last month when I switched to the Dynomation Wave-Action Engine Simulation software).
