Default Are you Running engine sim software?

I am a newbie, (but 55 yr. old). I picked up the Pro Racing’s DynoSim software with the Advanced Pro Tools about a month ago. I find myself wondering whether this is a real tool that accurately simulates an engine’s performance or just an interesting video game.

I have questions for those out there using this type of software.

1) Is the software a viable means to build and test run an engine before you spend your hard earned cash?
2) If you are running any engine/dyno sim software which one(s) are you using and how do you like them?
3) How accurate have you found, (or do you think), the results are?
4) Would you order a cam based on the software? Why or why not?

Thanks for your time and your input.

I have DynoSim but not with the Advanced Pro Tools. Like anything else I believe the accuracy will depend on the information put into it. So far I have found it to be reasonably accurate on my current build.

Do they incluse the LSx architecture? Or is it all SBC based still?

I've been thinking about buying this program for a long time, but like Guitsboy, I'd like to know what all they have as far as Gen3 motors are concerned.

I know my copy has LSx style intake on it as an option. I bought it for my L98 motor which is a SBC.

For what its worth, Pro Racing has the DynoSim Advanced with Pro Tools on sale for $99.95, regular price is $249.95. I bought the program because at 60% off I figured it was worth the price. For more details see the link below.

If you want accuracy, you want Engine Analyzer. The basic version is like $109, and the plus version is $199.

I have the plus version, used it quite a bit for a piece of software I made (still making, just took a break from it). The interface could be a little better, but it's the best thing out right now.
