Default Does a mustang dyno also return lower TQ #S?

Today I had my c5 on a mustang dyno. I dyno'd 373 rwhp and 355 ft/lbs. (ON A DYNOJET LAST YEAR). I've since added an ls6 intake and long tubes/high; flow cats for today's mustang dyno pull. I dyno'd 345 RWHP and 349 ft/lbs. THe last dyno day I was at 13.5 or so and currently I'm at 13.0 at 4400 dropping to 12.2 around 5900. . I need to retune it as my fuel trims are +.8 at WOT. I'm hoping I can get another 15 to 20 rwhp out of thing thing leaning it out. I'm figuring a 10% increase in HP on a DJ but what about torque? Even given 10% I've gained no HP w/ ls6 intake and headers on a H/C car. Lol go figure. I don't race a dyno, I was just curious and looking for input/opinions.

If you read diffrent dyno company's websites, they say don't compare diffrent dyno results from diffrent machines. Much less Mustang dyno to dyno jet. So don't sweat it.

A Mustang dyno obviously doesn't cause you to make less RPM's than a Dynojet. Therefore, the slightly lower horsepower is obviously due to the slightly lower torque readings.

FWIW I had my TA on a Mustang dyno and it put down 380rwhp and 350tq. 2 days later in identical weather conditions the car put down 401rwhp and 377tq on a DynoJet. Both runs were with the TC unlocked at identical transmission fluid and coolant temps.

wow then that would indicate i lost like 30 hp adding long tubes, high flow cats and an ls6 intake. Sweet.. I'll have to get it to the track and see if my traps improve.

From everything I've heard is that they do dyno less. But, don't be focused on that. I got mine tuned and dynoed on a mustang dyno. I was considering going out and finding a dyno jet. But decided against and figured I had better stuff to spend my money on. I'm sure your car gained. That's why you shouldn't compare numbers from diffrent dyno's. Like you said when you take it to the track you will see if you improved your times.

FWIW I got 329/380 on a Mustang and then 6 months later I got 349/364 on a Dynojet. Doesn't make much sense that I got more torque but less hp.

Say what? I think I may have confused you.

A Mustang dyno reads less torque then a Dynojet and therefore, less horsepower as well.

If you want to see exactly what you gained from adding mods then you need the before and after to be done on the same dyno, and done at the same shop for more accurate numbers.

Nether one of the "reads" both hp and tq. It reads one and the other is a mathematic derivative of the other. Therefore it is impossible for it to only cause lower numbers on hp but not on tq. They should change in proportion to each other

Mustang when run in a loaded sweep test MEASURES TQ and calculates hp from that. Dynojet or inertia only dyno CALCULATES HP and then calculates tq from it. At any given POINT ... YES it is impossible to have a lower hp and a higher tq BUT, you can have a Higher Tq number and a lower HP number or vice versa on the same dyno compared to another one. (EXAMPLE: Like the peak numbers that MISERICORDIA quoted above.)

Sounds confusing the way I typed that... LOL.

Compare apples to apples if you used a dyno jet first you have your base #'s already go back and use it again to find your true gains.
