Default Dyno number has me wondering

I went to the dyno to get a couple of runs to see where i'm at before i start doing the heavy modifying. I got 2 runs and both where consistant with each other 306.4 HP and 313.6 TQ. My car is a 98 Z28 M6 QTP headers, QTP ory, Magnaflow catback, SSRA, SLP lid, K&N air filter. These number are SAE corrected, but shouldn't they be a little higher. The guy that done the runs said to get the uncorrected number you take the corrected number and divide it by .85 to get the uncorrected number. also when i installed the exhaust i took the EGR out and the SES light is on, does this hurt performance any? all opinions will be appreciated.

If the SES is from the EGR, then no.

Whoever told you to get uncorrected divide by 0.85 is an idiot.

Is the car tuned? If not, dont worry.

I you are looking for ideal numbers, tune it, otherwise its pointless to worry about it.

When I put headers, y, and exhaust on my stock '00 WS6 it put down about 320rwhp. I got another 10 with a tune. That was on a dynojet. I'd say you're right in there. A slightly low read, but could be the dyno calibration, the weather that day. I wouldn't sweat it. But I would get it tuned if I were you.

Yes the numbers seem a tad low, and no the weather didnt have anything to do with it if they were SAE corrected.

I think that is about right. Hell it is not strong. but not weak for a 98 car.

actually my a/f is right on 13 and drops down to about 12.5 at about 5200 rpms. If i was to get a tune what would i need to tune the most besides getting the SES light off? also what would my uncorrected number be? the guy told me to divide the corrected number which is 306.4 by .85 to get the uncorrected is this correct?

When he says divide by .85, that means assuming a 15% driveloss you will get the flywheel number.

Not to make you feel bad man, but I have a 98 M6 as well....with a steel driveshaft no less, and when I just had a lid and catback, my car put down this:

And I thought that was low. Must be one hell of a stingy dyno you're going on.

Is it an m6 or a4? if its a4 then that is fairly normal, if its m6 then that is low and it desperately needs a tune.

i don't know what it could be, but my a/f ratio is right on i think. it's 13 all the way across until about 5200 and then it drops down to about 12.5. now correct me if i'm wrong but if you do headers, ORY, Catback eliminated EGR SES light is still on wouldn't that richen you up a bit? i also have ssra, slp lid NGK tr55. The car has never been tuned, but it seems like my a/f is right on. Is there anything i could be overlooking that makin me lose power? also what do you mean when you say a stingy dyno?

they are a bit low, but it could be the dyno. Example

My first dyno was 296/306 with a lid. Went to another dyno and did a cutout, i was at 328/338 with just adding a cutout. Now on the third dyno(all different dynos) i did 341/346 with a tune,headers,ls6 intake and only gained 13hp and 8tq??. So obviously the dyno numbers before weren't right and the second one was way high. With my trap though i knew the car wasn't running bad so take it to the track.

Hmm...well, LS1's make a good amout of their power up top, usually the HP graph climbs till around 6000 rpm where it levels off. The dyno sheet I posted above is a bad example to prove this case because, at that time, my car had a 117 mph speed limiter which cut the fun short on the dyno. Anyhow, what I am getting at is that you said the car dips to 12.5 A/F at around 5200....well, 12.5 means it's running a bit rich, so it fattens up just when it is about to do the final climb to max power....something a tune probably could help with quite a bit.

Just my amateur opinion!
