Car is pinging I have a question and dont know if this is the correct place to post or not. My 01 ss is pinging pretty bad right now ( it is real hot in Atlanta at the moment). I took it over to vengeance racing the other day and they confirmed this afer a quick drive. They said that the best fix is to tune it on the dyno. My question is do you think that the pinging will go away when it cools off, and should i spend the money on LT's and colder plugs. Or should I get them to just go ahead and tune it. Any info is much appreciated.
Vengeance tuned my car and several friends of mine as well!! They were very pleased with the results! Have them tune it...the other thing I'd do is plan goals for the car and then talk to Mike or Ron about what they can do for you in regards to getting LT's and colder plugs. The staff at Vengeance have years of experience with these cars and anything they have to say about it...I'd listen!!

Chuck had a c5 z06 with a new 402 going in and a 20 k mint 346 coming out.
Motor is F/S
The fact that they had time for your issue ,should
Tell you alot about their shop.

I would ask why you are pinging with only a SLP lid and cat back for mods. Do you have a lot of oil consumption? Adding oil to the chamber through the intake effectively lowers the octane rating of the fuel. Upgrading the PCV valve to the new design and adding an oil catch can could help.
Carbon build up on the piston could also cause this kind of problem.
