408 results part II This is a listing for 40X engines; mods; dyno graphs; and track times if available. So far this listing is what I could find with the search feature. If anyone wants to add to a post that I found or add info about your car that is not included feel free but try to keep the chit chat to a minimum, or use the PMs. By request here is a breakdown of the dynos in the thread so far. I left out some questionable ones. Mine did 440hp 437ftlbs. & 620hp & 637ftlbs. (TNT 200 with no bottle warmer & crappy bottle pressure) on a crappy LS6 intake & stock TB with no underdrive pulley. The car had about 500mi on it at the time. List of mods include, FFHP 408ci, Patriot Stage III LS6 heads, Comp 244/248 .612/615 113lsa LS6 intake, stock TB, Pacesetter LT's, open cutout, Rossler 4l60e, TCI3500, 3.73's. 10.7-1 CR. The LS6 intake setup was creating alot of vaccum so it was chocked up real bad, havent had a chance to redyno yet. Ive since added the fast 90mm intake & the NW 90mm TB. That should open it up a bit, Im also going with a higher CR, somewhere along the lines or 12.1-1 or so. -99 Z28 A4 6.7L "2006 LS1tech Calendar cover car" |

Well guys, technically my results have been posted by Brandon Boomhauer. However, I bought his car recently, so I guess I'll re-share the info... -Built by Erik @ HPE -10.96:1 compression ratio -Stock 241 casting heads -LS6 intake -Comp XE-R 244/248 612/615 115 lsa -Pacesetter 1 3/4" Longtubes into TSP True Duals w/ x-pipe -42 lb. injectors I made 432 rwhp and 431 lb. ft. of torque. I recently ran a 12.2 @ 119 on street tires as well. What do you guys think about all this? Should I be happy with it for the time being? I know when I throw a set of heads and an intake on it, it should make a huge jump, hopefully over the 500 mark. Let me know what ya'll think. If you need any other info, lmk. I'll scan the dyno sheet later on today. Thanks, Alex |

My 408 dyno numbers were low but I think I have too low compression, and a shitty intake. Mine was 450hp/440tq. I have a stock ls2 90mm intake, and I did the math yesterday and Im at 10.4 to 1 compression. I have patriot 72 cc stage 3 heads w/2.08 1.60 valves 225cc runners, and a Texas giant cam. I think by going to a 64cc stage 3 with 225 runners I would be in the 11.3 to 1 area, that should pick me up 20-30 rwhp. Im also going to get a fast intake, maybe between the two I can see 500rwhp. ???????????? |

It never got above a 12.6...until 6600 rpm's...I think it's safe to say there is a nice bit hiding in a tune. 532 RWHP 485 RWTQ I'm sure torque is down because of the larger headers but I wanted to get them and suffer the loss n/a for my gains on the hose. This motor will be recieving a 250 progressive direct port. Compression was also lower than optimal because of the heat that we get down here in the SE part of the country. It still put down decent numbers and now I'm not so worried about detonation with spray later down the road. :judge: |

Finally got my new heads and Kooks headers on and got some dyno results. I put down 472 rwhp on our Mustang dyno. I think the torque was 430ish if I remember right. I'm pretty happy with that considering it is through a loose converter/th400. I look forward to getting it on the track and seeing how it compares to last years times. Haven't sprayed it on the dyno yet - wanted to get the motor tune in good first. |

Time to bring this thread back... Why do I have so much lower numbers with my setup than everyone else with 408's? My setup is: My current specs are as follows: HPE 408 11:1 SCR 244/248 635/627 112 (installed 4 degrees advanced for the restrictive heads) Eagle crank Callies rods Diamond flat top pistons w/ 2cc reliefs Stock 6.0 heads (317) SVO 42 #'s LS6 intake P/P stock TB Edelbrock 1 7/8 stepped LT's/ORY LM catback Made 425/445 with 12.1-12.9 AFR. Supposedly nothing substantial was gained by leaning it out. I thought my numbers were decent until perusing this thread. Any ideas? I'm sending my heads out tomorrow to get ported and a 2.08/1.6 setup so that should help a bit. But I'd like to get the lost power issue addressed now before the heads get back so I don't have to extend this issue :bang: http://student.seas.gwu.edu/~jpoling/408/DynoHeads.jpg |

I've got a 408 built by Texas Speed... AFR 205 heads... 244/248 .612/.615 115lsa cam.. 1 3/4 pacesetter LTs, ASP underdrive pulley, LS6 intake, 3" ORY, Hooker catback... along with the Racetronix PnP kit & 42# injectors.. and a SLP maf... stock TB. It's an Auto with 3.23 rear gears & 3800 stall converter. It was trailered to & tuned by Speed Inc in Schaumburg IL when we were finished putting it together. It put down 450hp/425tq with zero miles on the motor.... running a 'low' 10.2:1 compression ratio... on 93 octane. I'm hoping with a FAST 90 / NW 90 setup... it should pick up a couple more ponies. It falls off some at the top... think it's running out of breath. |
