well im trying to see the difference in the gains where the exactly the gain is on the 1 3/4 and the 1 7/8. im worried that because right now ill only be header back exhaust that ill be losing a bit of power down low. i do plan on getting a tune so that may help as well.

Back pressure is a myth, you set the tune based on your requirements.

on a STOCK LS1, there will be no diff, even on a large cube motor, you may see a hp or 2.

On a bud's 402 high comp motor, he removed a cat back and put turn downs on, didnt gain any hp but the power band moved (shifted).

He will be going from 1-3/4" to a stepped system, i'll see if he can chime in

Choose which ever one is cheapest/readily available for you as both will make great power through out the power band. The 1 7/8's will just leave more room to grow, thats all.

There is a difference but depends on setup. If the plan is a decent H/C or stroker motor the 1 7/8's would be better. If stock, the 1 7/8's will not lose over the 1 3/4 anywhere. Of course I'm talking about Kooks brand. Don't know about the others.
