Out of curiosity, how much does that motor cost? Intake, Fully-assembled Heads, LSX454?

What is the horsepower per dollar ratio on this combo...seems like it would be VERY expensive for the power made, relatively speaking...not talking ****, just asking out of curiousity

Well, in this case, I guess it is not the most cost effective setup ever built. However, it is exactly what the customer wanted. 600+ RWHP naturally aspirated that can be daily driven on the street... Yes, we could have built a motor to produce 1000+ HP with a turbo or nitrous for less money. But that isn't what the customer was after. You can't really look at it as HP/Dollar. If you did, everyone would be running 347c.i. motors with a bunch nitrous.

Point well made, and I agree. I was just wondering! It seems cool as hell that is for sure.
Thank you Jon for the reply!

Seem like this customer has alot more MONEY then they do sense. How agressive is that cam (specs?). Numbers I think would be higher on a decently agrressive cam, running that kinda compresion and LS-x of over 450ci.

The same could be said for all of us to the non-car enthusiast. Its a matter of perception. What is it worth to YOU.

More money than sense?

Why because he built a trouble free (compared to FI application) best of everything NA motor that makes 600rwhp?????????
Ive owned everything in LS options.
Stock motor twin turbo (500rwhp) , Forged 347 D1 Procharged (700rwhp), 375 iron motor w/ 250 shot of gas (650rwhp) LS2 427 NA (500+RWHP) and all are fun but no one can argue that all motor is more reliable and trouble free long term.

I take issue with the "more money than sense" comment...This is not my build and if it is what the guy wanted and he had the means then by all means build it. If he had the means to buy a million dollar Enzo would he have more money than sense if he bought it? I have spent a pretty penny recently buying a 40x shortblock from HKE and moser 12 bolt and Performabuilt trans with Yank converter? Do I have more money than sense? No, my motor blew and I decided to spend what I would have on a new 346 and put it toward something bigger and decided to do all the supporting mods so the rear and trans don't go next...I can say I tried anyway. This was within my means to do it, the wife approved so I did it.

BTW, Nice build, will those heads, LS7 intake work on a 408 and will they out perform AFRs with FAST intake? How much for the heads and is there a core charge cause I don't have any LS7 heads.

PM me if you do not want to post your response

Thanks
Jon

Man I must be really stupid then....honestly an procharged 408 was on my mind when I started my project. But decided on the 454 which actually was cheaper of the two since I already had a top end. But I think I would have done big cubes even if they were the same money.

Congrats on the build even taking into account I was on a mustang dyno those LS7 heads are definately moving more air than mine!

Jon, what's with the MPH? With 3.73 gears you should have been able to pull way past 118.

As for the more money than sense comment, sounds like someone is jealous.

Nice numbers. What's the spike?

Cam is not that wild. Good for street in that big cubed engine.
