Default Anyone know anything about operating a Dyno?

Our local shop here seems to have a hard time getting accurate readings from any LS1 engine, seemingly from an inability to know where to attach the Dynojet sensors. All other cars have no problems, but any LS1 (I've seen about 12 different cars) gets confused readings.

For example, there may be gaps for an entire 500-1000 rpm range where the machine seems unable to read any rpm, and hence gets no hp readings.

Or, the rpms are way off. Its been showing my car (mostly stock, see below) developing max power at 6400 rpm. Well, considering my stock limiter is at 6250 (and it never gets hit) and I have a stock cam, there is something wrong with these readings.

What are they doing wrong? Anyone have any insight? They are the only dynojet within 4 hours drive.

no different than any other V8

set to plug fires every 720 degrees of rotation. Make sure to get a good ground and attach the spark plug lead

True. I never have any issues like this with our Dyno-Jet.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds so simple, so I can't understand why they have such trouble. Its been a reoccurring problem for 2 years. And the guy at the shop isn't a moron.

Perhaps they are having a hard time finding the good ground location, but I find that hard to believe.

How close is the computer to the car? "Noise" can be a problem.
