I prefer 2nd with that gear set since 3rd brings it into a stupid mph which can be dangerous with the wrong tires.

Slowhawk, is there any real difference in dynoing in 2nd or 3rd?

I've never heard of doing a pull in 2nd...if there's no difference wouldn't it be less hard on the rest of the drivetrain to just do it in 2nd?

It depends on the setup.the dyno WILL read a lower hp.The problem with low gears like 3.08/2.73 is that a stockish car barely has enough power to pull to redline in 3rd.Then you add a stock tire with a speed rating of 120mph or so,the tire starts to float at 150mph.

If you have a truck, the driveshafts are only rated for a certain rpm.I've personally had 3 truck driveshafts explode on the dyno which broke the tranny/transfer cases. So trucks ussually get 2nd gear.

Quick Reply: dyno ?
