Default 4.8 pullout with 106k very complete $350

got this in a parts trade the other day from a friend of mine that parts out some gm trucks , came out of a 2000 silverado with 106k on the clock , ran well.

I probably dont need to tell anyone on here what these are good for but just incase... the short stroke/long rod/small piston makes these great for boosting or spraying.

They have gotten a lot of press lately since hot rod mag thought they bought a 5.3 from a junkyard to test the boost limits of a stock ls engine and proceeded to make like 60 dyno pulls and ended up at 1200 hp , tore it down to see what type of damage they did to it and found none , along with finding flat top pistons which came in 4.8 not 5.3 , yes 1200 hp out of a 4.8 !! the blocks are stamped 4.8/5.3

of course if going NA stroker with forged internals you end up with the same displacement as you would starting with a 5.3 once you replace crank and rods too

I have seen posts where people put these heads on an ls1 to bump compression and of course this has the truck coils which are an upgrade over stock

Would you be willing to sell the heads separately?

I suppose I would consider it but once its apart I have a part out on my hands instead of a running engine.

What are they worth to you ?

If anyone else watching this thread has interest in parts speak up I would be most likely to part it if I knew I had multiple items spoken for that would get me close to what I am trying to get as a whole

at was my thought just over the mass/ct border maybe on 84. My truck needs some maint. before making that type of run but it could be something that could work.Any further and the cost of fuel would kill the deal for me...

not looking to ship it - would have to miss work to deal with that.

wish I had some cash laying around I would try to work a deal with you of the engine & cash on that t56 out of the car your parting but its just not a good time of year for me to free up any money , more in sell stuff to get bills paid in a timely fashion mode this time of year

depending on time of day/traffic in Boston area I am about an hour &40 minutes from Boston if anything brings you there , or 50 min from mass/nh border on 95 , 35 min from nh/maine border.

I have had some local interest from craigs list also but my guess from selling stuff in the past is that january is when stuff sells again , everybody is in buy christmas presents , fill oil tanks etc.. mode this time of year around here.

Wish I had the extra scratch, have 256k on my current 4.8 and wouldn't mind having a spare laying around. Not that it seems to have any problems. These motors are ridiculous, I beat on this thing daily and it just keeps going. The 5 speed trans on the other hand..... One noisy piece!
