Cool New bests in my C6 :-)

I would also like to submit my new best from a track visit the other day. I ran into some issues due to the track staff at the line helping keep my usual burnout/staging procedures from going quite as smoothly as normal (there were 'No Time' cars running with us and they can't be paired with a 'time' car so I was forced to wait it out on a few passes) as well as my drag radials getting a little smooth as well which cost me some traction but I still managed to pull two new bests out of the visit.
Car is identical (ie: bolt ons only LS2) to the last time I ran it other than the addition of a FAST intake manifold and some stellar Cartek Performance Engineering dyno re-tuning:

60' ............. 1.622
1/8th ......... 7.189
1/8th MPH .. 112.77 (Wait, what? Lots of people's 330s and 1/8th miles were screwed up by the timers all day, my actual 1/8th mile traps were in the low-mid 97mph range)
1/4 ............ 11.181
MPH ........... 123.54

Here are copies of my three best slips, car#364 (as usual):

Much thanks to Cartek Racing for the awesome and clean installs and of course their legendary dyno tuning skills, they truly have extracted the very most out of the few mods that I have done to the car.
Also a thanks to Dennis50nj for assisting me at the track as well as (along with Cartek's expertise) helping pave the way for serious naturally aspirated bolt on C6 performance/results with his own blue beast.

It was the Vette (I stated it in the title section of the post but should've been more specific ), still stock internals/bolt ons only.
I might try and give the Z28 (also still bolt ons) another shot at the 11.7s come November/December but not sure yet.

Congrats Frank and Rocksand racing!!! Nice job!!

Frank, when the car next to you cuts a 1.22 60', you don't get to call the track "slick"!!

You do when you run an IRS Rear with a 10 inch tire and the car Next to You runs a 14/33 tire......

That's a good point. But then again that combo (IRS/10" tire) might always haunt you guys when it comes to traction (again, unless it's a rental day or a track prepped better than E-town was on Sunday), especially once it gets cold out.
Either way a 9.1 on only a 1.43 short time is truly movin' ....you might only need a solid 1.41 to see an 8.9x or even only a 1.42 if the air/DA is better, though of course better air could again hurt traction overall with that same IRS/10" tire combo.

yeah I hear what you're saying but honestly not buying all of it. I don't really know a whole lot about an IRS rear but there are guys running them successfully with a smaller tire than yours and faster to boot. Mike Romaines 8 sec c5 comes to mind and he's street driven.
That guy you raced against has a bigger tire yes, but the 60' and ET justifies that tire size.
Guy runs 33" tires and cuts a 1.4 60' you're like ah, too much tire. Guy cuts a low 1.2 60', runs a low 8@ 160+mph and you're like "Oh yeah"
And don't forget, the relatively weak 60' is padding your mph a bit as well. You cut a mid 1.3 and your mph will barely make 150, maybe less.
Conversely you take that big tire car and put a tire like yours on there and 60' in the 1.4 range and I'll bet that car hits 170mph or better not having to lug that huge tire down the track.
All apples and oranges Frank right?
I'd love to see your car with a solid rear, a little lighter and transferring weight a bit better, you'd never see 9's again with that Goat.
Again, admittedly not knowing much about the IRS I would like to ask how good are those 1/2 shafts you're using really? What's gonna happen to them when and if you can start planting those tires and getting mid 1.3 60's, which for your car, weight and set up I would consider a GOOD SOLID 60'. What's the best 60' anybody has cut using those 1/2 shafts?

"Admirable" sticking with the IRS yes, definatley.
Holding you guys back? Absolutely!

That's my opinion anyway, just talkin' here-no flame meant or anything like that.

a 1.40 is the BEST in the country with a IRS rear in a GTO, So We are Not far Off from that we run Custom made 33 spline axles since WE have Broken ALL the aftermarket ones, a Soild rear IS NOT in the cards, To tell you the truth We Now run fast and week in and week out with out Much Problems. The Vette IRS is much diffrent than our GTO. we also run a 28 inch tire Unlike you f body guys that can fit a 30 inch tire, I would give up the MPH for a 1.30 something 60 foot anyday......see you soon....Thanks Frank

A 30" tire does NOT fit an F-Body. I paid a body shop to "stretch" my wheelwells 6" to appear stock so I can run a 30" tire.

Watch this video Guys...https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedi...ore-i-r-s.html

Isn't this an IRS GTO with a different name?
