Default does this sound dumb?

I have some spots on my roof on my trans am right behind the t-tp where someone burned through with a buffer and I have the bubbles in the summer time, my question is since my car is all black would it be dumb to have a vinyl decal made to cover the roof, I dont think you would even notice that is was a vinyl unless you really looked at it. THoughts & comments welcome

Id say it depends. The car is low and the roof is pretty easy to see...
Pics would help

You can do that but it's going to look kind of hacked. Your better off taping off the area, wet sanding the failing clearcoat and re-applying it. I bet it would come out pretty good and if not, toss the sticker on.

To be honest the only real way for that to look perfect is to buy a new pannel and strip off the old adhesive and put the new one on and have it painted.

The reason I say this is because they are notorious for bubbling from the factory. I just had my SS completley repainted last year and 2 days after they painted it they ended up having to strip it down to bare fiber glass and repaint that pannel again. The problem is that the adhesive they use from the factory has a reaction to the fiberglass and thats what causes the bubbling effect. There is a stickey on this at the top of the body and paint section. Its called sail pannel recall thread. Hope this helps

I'd just leave it alone until you have the money to fix it but that is just me.
