Default I need an A/C recharge in Hampton Roads

If you work for a shop or can point me to a reputable shop I would appreciate it. What should I expect to pay for a recharge around here? I do not believe I need any replacement parts. I'm pretty sure I am just low on refrigerant.

you can do it yourself for like $50.

go to a parts store.
buy 2 cans r132 and a hose.
attach the can and hose to the nipple under the hood.
start car.
turn AC on full blast.
open the can.
wait till the ac is blowing cold.
30 minutes tops...including goin to buy the stuff.

evacuated is what you want lol your stuff all ready evaporated. and its 134a
id bet good money you got an o-ring on its way out or gone. best to do it right and have it evacuated first but if you suspect a leak id shoot some gas thru it to try to find it before having it evacuated.

Got my words mixed...**** happens. But I agree with you. I have never dealt with an a/c system, only sold them. Obviously there has to be some sort of leak, however at this time I do not know how serious or the location. I've had the truck for 2 years and all of a sudden my O2 sensors went out, the a/c took as **** and I have a tick somewhere. Go figure.

One shop quoted me $120 to dye test and recharge. I just don't want to spend that only to turn around and have to replace a compressor/condensor/orifice.

no prob bud, i just wanted to set you straight so when you go to ask they dont try to take you for a ride. if it was my rig id go to your local auto parts store and get a can of 134a and pump her threw. worst case scenaro your back to square one and you at least know you have a leak. best case it holds and you have it evaced and pumped up again.

If it's not totally empty you should be able to recharge and be safe. If it's empty then you should have it evacuated or it could lead to other problems. The going rate here seems be be around $75 plus refrigerant. I do them for $40+ and keep pretty busy during the summer evenings.

It is surging and it wasn't completely warm. I realized it was surging and low so I shut it off before locking the compressor. I will attempt to recharge it with a can and go from there.
