Default Local GM techs/dealership guys???

Hey guys,
I'm in the process of a swap in my car. Right now its a 1998 T56 car. I have purchased a 99-02 PCM, 99-02 engine harness (A4), 99-02 interior harness (A4), 99-02 gauge cluster. The reasoning behind all these parts is to control a 4L80e and also get rid of the 1998 PCM. I know I need to change the fuel pressure sender and ECT sender as well- no big deal.

I have been trying to do some research and cannot come up with a clear answer. I have been told that there is an air bag module, BCM(s) and PCM/ECM. Does anyone foresee any problems with all of this working together? Will a Tech2 tuner need to be used to program the BCM(s) and ECM/PCM? I was hoping it would be a plug and play. I would reuse my air bag module and BCM(s) since they are known to be good and not out of a wrecked car.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks
Andy

You should just get a TCI trans control unit. It works separate from the factory electronics, is totally programmable and since you have an M6 car, the factory pcm won't even know what's going on with it. IMO, you're taking the long way around.

Yeah. Well I already have all the parts. I'm sure what I have into the parts I have still costs less that this TCI unit. It might involve more labor come swap time but I'm semi-committed now.

Well, she'll be cool when she's done either way, that's for sure! One of my happiest moments with the car was when I got rid of the stick and went auto.
Wish I could be more help to ya-good luck!

Thanks for the input either way. I appreciate it. I also wanted to go with the 99-02 PCM just in case FI is introduced in the future. I can then run 2bar/etc. The way I look at it, this car won't be a 1998 anymore from the aspect of wiring/PCM/etc. I'm even changing the oil pressure and ECT sender that were 98 specific.

Is it waste of time and money? Not in my eyes. At the end of the day I'll have something to be proud about.

Well apparently if I get a 1998 A4 engine/trans harness I could plug and play and have the 1998 PCM control the 4L80e. I need to add a relay but no big deal. Then have the clutch pedal wires act as my NSS.

Option 2 is more time consuming and involves replacing the PCM, engine/trans harness, interior harness, gauge cluster.
