I do just as everybody stated. I've got 3 vehicles right now, my 86 monte ss, paid for, and I mod slowly, I took part of my taxes to do the lsx swap into the monte with the trans and wiring harness. This year I did the paint. I could afford to do it though because my wife and I are both military. Our other two vehicles have payments, her truck for 600 a month, and my truck for 500 a month. We've agreed at least until they are half paid down, we're not going to mod them, just drive and maintain them. Now with that being said...I have extra money stashed away, if something comes up that needs to be replaced, say tires are worn out, then I can go ahead and upgrade if I can afford it. Case/point: Wifes truck needed new tires, badly. We had saved up enough to put 4 new ones on there, but the cost was 1250 bucks. Shes been wanting to level it out, and get new rims/tires that were a little more off road. The total cost was about 1600 total. She got what she wanted, and what "we" needed. Just a thought. I also scour craigslist and such looking for good used parts that I know I can use. The majority of our extra moneys go to paying on extra on both trucks HTH a little

what I do is that make sure all my bills for the month r paid. ( Buget plan ) I take an X amount of dollars out of my pay each week n that takes care of the bills. what ever I have left over is money I save. so if there something I want I got the cash right there. it's help to have to checking accounts, this way u don't spend to much money n run short on bills . look at it this way if u cannot pay cash for it u can't have it !

As some has stated already pay off the car as fast as possible. If you can afford it pay up three to six months on your note. This is what I did.

thats what i was saying/thinking.

just so its cleared up, i did not and do not plan on taking a loan out for mods. i have a loan for the car itself. (3 years)

and i would not use the credit card for go fast/fun parts, only things it absolutely needs and i dont have money up front, such as tires or something.

i'll slowly fix up my other camaro then maybe sell that, if i sell it for 2 grand that alone will put me about 7 months ahead of schedule.

I paid mine off and bought it cheap with the intention of modding it. I paid cash for all my mods. Everything in my sig is paid for. I try to find things used. I bought my intake, drag radials/rims, new SS Hood used. Got all of them for $650 and the intake was only on the dyno, Hood was new, and drag radials and rims were like brand new also.

Like everybody else says. Hindsight is 20/20. Any money you want to spend on mods, put it towards your car note. Pay the thing off then have fun. I learned this the hard way over the years. Good luck with what ever you do!
