I do just as everybody stated. I've got 3 vehicles right now, my 86 monte ss, paid for, and I mod slowly, I took part of my taxes to do the lsx swap into the monte with the trans and wiring harness. This year I did the paint. I could afford to do it though because my wife and I are both military. Our other two vehicles have payments, her truck for 600 a month, and my truck for 500 a month. We've agreed at least until they are half paid down, we're not going to mod them, just drive and maintain them. Now with that being said...I have extra money stashed away, if something comes up that needs to be replaced, say tires are worn out, then I can go ahead and upgrade if I can afford it. Case/point: Wifes truck needed new tires, badly. We had saved up enough to put 4 new ones on there, but the cost was 1250 bucks. Shes been wanting to level it out, and get new rims/tires that were a little more off road. The total cost was about 1600 total. She got what she wanted, and what "we" needed. Just a thought. I also scour craigslist and such looking for good used parts that I know I can use. The majority of our extra moneys go to paying on extra on both trucks
