Default For VA residents only

Just moved to Virginia and I notice that there are about 1000 cops everywhere handing them out like candy. Whats the deal with that? And also where do you guys do spirited driving/riding? Thanks.

As I work for a insurance co. that handles VA, we do see come violations come through Motor Vehicle Reports.... 1, 2, 3, 4, MPH over the limit. I heard they are pretty bad but thats a little rediculous.

Northern VA is crazy when it comes to cops... I honestly took my "spirited" driving to the track. wasnt worth a speeding ticket... on-ramps are the other place i used to get on it as well.

We just go to MD to speed or race... NoVA cops are ridiculous especially Fairfax and Staties.

Last month I got a ticket for expired registration. My registration expired 9/30/2010 and he wrote the ticket at 1:10AM on 10/1/2010. My registration was expired for an hour and ten minutes.

Haha that's about right. I love those 1/4 mile long on-ramps, they make for some good WOT action.

one of MANY reasons I just try to stay OUT of Vaginia!

I have heard SO many stories about 1-5mph over tickets and full fines and points even after going to court. Court in VA will NOT lower or probation a ticket like MD will.

Spirited driving, come back to md where hte **** party is still not in control of the Police....

Also driving a modded car in VA seems to be excuse enough for a cop to follow you at a close distance for as long as he can/wants to. I once had a cop follow me from a side road off of the toll road all the way onto 495 where he still sat a few feet of my rear bumper for a exit or two... Most boring drive of my life(did 5-10 under the WHOLE time in fear of that 1mph over ticket).

Most of the grief is in the NoVA area or extreme southern portion of the state. My Richmond-local customers don't seem to have police problems, and there is a lot of FI here. Heck, a solid half dozen of my customers are local cops. The import guys catch most of the crap around here.

You can save 40% on your auto insurance
by not stopping.

J/K, I feel your pain......around here the locals don't ticket
there own but everyone else is fair game, just like when you
leave Hazzard county and cross over in to Chickasaw county
and vice a versa.

Prince George county is pretty relaxing, and there isn't a lot out there at all. If you want to do some racing, I believe that VA motorplex or motorpark in Dinwidee is open Dec 3rd for their last Test n Tune of the season. I'd be going out there if the car wasnt under construction again. Really, its just tough, unless you want to hit 85 south, where theres about an hour long stretch to the border and I rarely see cops that way. Sorta like seeing a whole lot of F bodies around here, just doesn't happen

I commute from Shenandoah valley to Fairfax daily and I set cruise at about 80 and don't have a single problem with cops. It might be because I'm in the daily which is just a normal looking Malibu but I have yet to be pulled over for it. (knock on wood)

VA has been like this for 20 years! I remember back in the 80's being followed by VA state cops in our 87Z28 driving down to Luray Caverns and Skyline drive. It the reason we don't go there anymore, I got sick of being followed constantly! FK UM I spend my money someplace else!

Unfuckingbelievable. I got pulled over a month ago for 84 in a 65 (state cop, PA). He gave me the minimum $110 with no points for being honest. The staties usually won't pull you over either unless you're doing 10 or more over the limit. 5 over is perfectly safe. PA state cops are usually cool.

We have some local cops of course that will act like *********, for going 5 over. You can get that anywhere in the country with local yocals. Your cops are apparently Uber ***** though, including the staties. I ******* hate cops like that, and there's so many of them.

Well for driving on the interstate or local area anywhere in VA, usually I would just pull over on the side of the road or get off the interstate for a bit...

Here in Roanoke I drive the safety cooridoor down I81 everyday to work. The speed limit is 60 and the MINIMUM fine for a moving violation is $500. I can't remember the last time I drove from Salem to Roanoke and didn't see at least one person pulled over.
