Default Fuel question?

I just got to California where my car has been in a garage for the last 12-16 mo without being started.

My question is, although its started up fine and runs, I want to go get it tuned which it has never had since I started modding it, should I drain the old gas? It has roughly 3/4 of a tank right now, I can add octane booster or maybe higher octane gas. What is the best thing to do in my situation since I will be taking it in to get tuned? Thanks for any input.

Tune it with the gas you will normally be fueling up with. Which won't be 12-16 months old. And don't put anything in it.

If the tune in it isn't unsafe just run out the gas shouldn't take more then a couple hour drive.

Add some rubbing alcohol, drive it to run it down. Put in fresh fuel in it. That is how I would do it. Someone who tunes may offer a different suggestion but to me having the car mechanically sound which includes fuel would be on my "checklist"

Rubbing alcohol I would think could ruin seals

Old trick I used for years when you actually had to pass a sniffer test. Your adding it to 10-15 gallons of fuel so it gets cut and helps with cleaning. You could buy a bottle of commerical grade fuel system cleaner. It's a main ingrediant.

For cars that USE E-10 and E-85 there is a page about this but I figure it has a good summary.

http://www.fuel-testers.com/review_g..._products.html

TThe only cars I have heard/seen having issues were Alcohol fueled cars due to the fuel's inability to lubricate parts. Thats bout it.

I am no expert, this is what I know. Personally I have had fuel sit for over a year, on a 11.25 to 1 LT1 383 and just drove it until near empty and put in fresh fuel. I would think he would be fine.

Or just disconnect the line before the filter and just drain via the fuel pump priming trick (just hook a batter charger up).

Drain it and use it in the lawnmower. The risk isnt worth the reward. Fill it with fresh gas and let er rip.
