Speed camera frame

Speed camera frame Looking for some insight on how speed cameras work from anybody that knows. I was driving into work this morning around 6:05am on Route 29 S towards Columbia, MD where they have been doing a lot of road work and they have a speed camera mounted to a jeep or car setup every morning on the right shoulder next to the concrete barriers. The posted limit is 50mph and I passed it this morning just like every morning in the right hand lane doing a safe 52mph in my Formula. After I was in front of the jeep apparently the guy behind me in the lane to my left was speeding and I saw the camera flash in my mirror, I'm not sure how far in front of the jeep I was, maybe as little as 50ft to a couple hundred ft. I just want to make sure that I'm not going to get wrongly ticketed if my car is in the frame when the guy got caught, not sure how the technology is programed to work or how far it sees.
