Track Day at Thompson!

Awesome! Already been there 4 times this summer, great little facility. Doing one more day at lime rock that's it for the season. Should be even more fun when the Palmer track opens up. See you out there next season!

I saw the vid of the electric cars on the track. It looks pretty good, with lots of elevation changes. I am pretty sure COM is going to have a day or two there. I am trying to decide whether to keep doing it with the GTO or whether to find a c5 vette to thrash....

Burnout, cost for an HPDE (high performance driving event) ranges from $250 to $350 per day, depending on the track. Some are more costly to rent than others. For that price, you get 1.5 to 2 hours of track time, plus a knowledgable instructor to help you go faster. That time is split up into 20 or 25 minute on track sessions, plus classroom sessions. It's all about learning to go faster, safely. It is incredibly addicting, there is no rush like blasting around a road course all out. I used to drag race, and never will again after taking turns.
Boosted, you might also want to consider an f-body. Reason is cost. If you hit a wall, rollers are cheap. Can't say the same about a corvette, although it is a much better car out of the box. If we meet up at a day next season, I would love to show you how well an f-body can work with bolt on parts. It can definitely hold its own.

My instructor was driving an 02 Camaro and was about 7 seconds faster than me around the course with nothing more than brake ducts, good pads, and some strano springs! He needed better seats though I had to hold on tight!!
