Default So,u gotta pull the dash huh,NOT!!!!

I read all these posts about pulling the dash to get the PS air bag out and how its real hard and blah, blah, blah.Well let me enlighten u guys,it can come out including the bracket in about 1HR WITHOUT removing the dash.

My Momo wheel looks badass in the car too.So far the cars lost 26lbs and I still have the seat (20lbs lighter ) to finish.I hope to have 50lbs out of the car by tomorrow,I dont know if I'll make Atco this Sat as I still need to drive the car and final tune the LSX/90TB.

Sorry I didnt have a camera.
Now u will have to cut the bracket but the complete airbag is left intact.I also took the module out under the console, take out the abs fuse and unhook the battery.

1st.
Remove upper dash piece, the the glove box.U will then need to locate the small 7mm nuts threwout the glovebox area and the top of the dash. Then remove a few nuts on the sie of the dash down by the kick panel.U dont need to remove all top dash screw just the one up to the middle of the dash by the winshield. The dash now can be wiggled alittle and this will expose some other 7mm nuts u need to get out.

2nd.
Now comes the tricky part.
U need to slowly remove the asb plate on the dash with a flat putty knife.U kinda move it all around to break the glue holding it place and keep going furthe runder the abs plate until its free. You will see it being held on by a kevlar/metal bracket.I just drilled out the rivet and it was off. Then u need to use a whizzer and make a slite straight cut down the hard plastic dash and the last 2 bolts will be exposed.U must cut the plastic cover under the ads plate with a whizzer to expose the air bag too.

3.
Take them out and the air bag will come right out, unclip it (yellow). Then u need a chop saw (air) and u make a cut down the center of the steel bracket and it comes right out.Start putting the screws back in under/side/top of the dash and put the glove box back in,then use a hot glue gun and secure the abs cover (plastic cover if u want I didnt) and your done.

4.
Next remove the top of the console plate, and take out the 2 bolts in the console,it will move alittle bit.The u will see a silver box held in w/a few nuts.Take them out and the box will be free, unhook (Yellow) wire and lifgt up on the console.U can snake the module out from under it.Then put the bolts and plate back in and your done.

Two people doing this can knock it out in 1hr easy and u dont have to worry about unhooking wires, lining up ducts or running into any issues with removing the dash.

FWIW
There is so much weight u could get ot of these cars if u really wanted to go wild
It was pretty easy if u ask me,But I do have a mean set of tools

My Husky saws like butter...
The wheel was 125 buck, its synthetic leather but I didnt want Momo logo on my wheel and this particular Momo is called the dragster. It sez race on the horn buttom and wheel w/checkered flag logo.

Couldnt beat the price.
I'll take a pic of it and load it up along with my seat bracket.

You forgot Step #5!!!

Step 5: Take air bag and set it on ground. Connect 2 wires to the air bag and run them over to a battery source keeping i would ssay at least a 10ft distance. 12V. Connect one wire to the battery. While watching the airbag connect the second wire and watch it go BOOM!!!!!!!!!

Ive actually seen it done. My dad's shop had a few laying around for a long time. They are LOUD!!!!!! Gotta set them off tho to throw them away tho thats why we set them off but hey at least its a good excuse

I like the battery idea myself, too bad you didn't get it on video.

Did you have to buy a hub to mount it, if so what did that run ya?

My brother put a Momo then later a Sparco suede wheel in his Z28 not long after he got the car (almost 4 years ago, and he did it for the 'feel' more so than the weight savings) and he used the Momo hub adaptor kit for the late '80s Corvettes I think, he did have to mill a little bit of it to get to clear the sterring column though. His airbag light stays on too unfortunately.
They haven't made too many new hub kits since air bags became standard LOL.
I've used Momo wheels in a few of my cars but since the air bag thing I've avoided because it just too much hassle, I have a Wheelskins glove leather cover sitting right here waiting to go on my Z28 because the big, thin stock wheel simply sucks.

Yeah we'd heard about a certain wire or something to cut but after trying it a few times he just gave up, please share this info.
